"That was delicious Mrs..."
"Ms" Tucker's mom laughed, taking my empty bowl and scurrying over to the sink. "And you can call me Bernie".
I sat on the bench which was now mostly deserted except for two young boys who were fighting with each other over a spoon, and Tucker who was refereeing the fight.
"You're supposed to be an adult" Bernie scoffed, pulling the spoon from all three of them as the two boys ran from the kitchen and thundered up the stairs.
"I told you it was chaos" Tucker smirked at me.
It was chaos, and if I could have given up my entire life to remain here forever, I would have done just that. My life back home wasn't terrible, at least not when Dustin wasn't part of the equation, but Bernie was the type of mom that sometimes, just sometimes, I wished my own mom was.
"So" Bernie smiled, plonking down beside me and sliding a large pitcher of dark yellow liquid in front of me.
"You boys are seeing each other?"
My heart sped up and I glanced at Tucker for direction. I'd become so used to hiding things, so used to threading carefully around such taboo subjects.
Bernie leaned over to me and whispered loud enough for Tucker to hear.
"Well he better be treating you right" she winked, and nudged me softly, "because if he's not!"
Bernie pointed her finger at her son and he laughed like a child. It was a spectacular sight to see. The strong, muscular, masculine man who had carried me across the parking lot with ease, looked more like a happy little boy as he beamed.
"However" Bernie added, with a tone of seriousness in her voice, and I instantly got the distinct impression that whilst the woman was warm, kind and caring, it would be a terrible idea to cross her.
"Tucker, Jayden will take your room and you can stay in with the twins".
Tucker shrugged, but I felt awful.
"Oh no, honestly" I said, "I can stay on the sofa, or... Anywhere, I don't want to be a burden".
Bernie nodded and looked to Tucker.
"Well perhaps you can get the dirty old mattress from the loft and set it up out in the barn?" She asked, and I glanced at Tucker who nodded, before a smile broke across both of their faces.
"You're not a burden at all, pet" Bernie smiled, rubbing my back, "but I'm afraid you'll have to put up with..."
The kitchen door crashed open and all of us turned as a soaking, angry looking boy trodded inside.
"Leon" Bernie whispered to me, and stood up.
"And what time do you call this?" The stout lady quipped, rushing over to the stove and turning it on under the large pot.
"Well if he didn't take the truck, I could have driven" the boy growled back as his white blonde hair stuck to his drenched face.
"You're twelve, Leon!" Bernie barked, "now go up and get out of those clothes, you're lucky there's enough left for you!"
I felt another pang of guilt as I squirmed on the bench. Tucker caught my eye and laughed quietly.
"Are you... Are you wearing my shoes?"
The sentence made me wince. I'd forgotten all about them, but as I turned to apologise, Tucker spoke up.
"Aren't you wearing mine?" He asked quizzically.
The boy glared at him for a moment before storming from the kitchen and bounding up the stairs.
"Sorry about him" Bernie said, "he's at that age".
"He's a little shit" Tucker scoffed, and his mom clipped the back of his ear.
"Language" she hissed, and I did my best to hold in a laugh as his cheeks flushed red.
"Come on" he said finally, grabbing the pitcher that his mom had given me and gulping it down, "I'll show you around".
We passed Leon as we left the kitchen, but other than a jarring death stare toward me, he didn't say a word.
"I think he hates me already" I sighed as we inched our way up the thin wooden staircase.
"He hates everybody" Tucker told me, taking me by the hand.
"That's the twin's room" he said, pointing to a door with a sheet of paper reading "$5 to enter".
I smiled as we continued.
"That's Beth and Sally-Ann's room" he nodded to a door painted pink, "that's John and Logan's room, and here is your suite, sir" he added, opening the last door and waving me inside.
The room was small and cluttered. Two single beds had been pushed as far from each other as possible, but only a few feet separated them.
"I know it's not what you're used to" Tucker sighed, "but some day we'll have everything we could dream of".
I scanned the messy room. Clothes were strewn across one side of it, but the other side was completely spotless.
"This is everything I could dream of" I told him truthfully, and turned into him.
"Oh really?" He smirked, and pressed his lips to mine.
The feeling that pulsed through me every time that Tucker kissed me was unlike anything I could describe. I'd never had sex, but it seemed to be the closest thing to it that I could think of. He made me feel electric, as though I was the only person in the world that mattered. It was, it was...
"Gross" a voice growled from the door, and I felt someone push by me.
Both of us stopped abruptly, and I wiped my mouth as Zach reached into his locker and pulled out an old, battered phone.
He paused briefly, glanced from me to Tucker and shook his head.
"What's wrong with you?" Tucker almost barked, and the blonde haired boy opened his mouth to answer, but seemingly decided against it.
He pushed by me again and disappeared back down the stairs.
"Sorry about him" Tucker sighed again, "try not to take it personally".
"Is it... Do you think it's because we were..."
He shook his head.
"I'll explain another time" he smiled, and took me by the hand once again.
"Where are we going now?" I asked, as he pulled me back down the stairs.
"Out" he replied excitedly, "unless you'd rather watch The Grinch with the kids" he added smartly.
We rushed through the house, sneaking by the kitchen like naughty children, and got to the door.
"Here" he said, wrapping a yellow rain coat around my shoulders, before pulling a black one over himself.
We sneaked out the front door and once again we were back in the pouring rain.
"I thought you hated the rain" I called as we splashed through muddy puddles and headed toward the back of the barn.
"I do" he shouted back as the rain battered us, "but you love it".
Nobody had ever treated me like Tucker did. He was kinder than anybody I had ever known, and it was easy to see where he'd gotten it from. It was difficult to imagine Bernie and Dennis being married. How could someone so warm and loving, be in love with somebody so hateful and bitter?
We ran past the barn and suddenly we were in an endless field surrounded by huge trees that towered over us. The sky was dark and ominous, but I'd never felt safer.
"Just over here" Tucker shouted, but I could barely hear him through the torrential downpour.
We reached the edge of the large forest like area until finally we were under the cover of the trees. The last of the daylight had dipped behind the mountains in the far distance, but I could still make out the perfect man before me.
"Here" he said, and guided me down a steep drop and through more trees until we stood at at the most spectacular sight I'd ever seen.
The trees opened up to a huge, dark lake. The light from the moon shimmered across the surface as millions of tiny rain drops broke the barrier and created a beautifully calming orchestra.
"I spent most of my childhood out here" Tucker smiled, and we both sat down on a fallen tree trunk.
"Every time dad blew up, this is where I'd come".
I snuggled closer to him as his large arm wrapped warmly around my shoulders.
"I'm sorry" I whispered, feeling his heart beat through his chest.
"Don't be" he smiled down, rubbing my cheek, "he's in your life now, too".
The two of us sat in silence as the rain continued to pour, until finally Tucker spoke again.
"Sucks that we can't share a room, huh?"
I shrugged.
"How else would I get a break from you?" I grinned.
Tucker sat back, turning me to face him. I expected another amazing kiss, an uninterrupted one perhaps, but instead, he lay me back on the trunk until I was staring up into the trees.
"I love you, Jayden" he whispered, and lay his body on top of mine.
His lips caressed my cheek, moving slowly down my neck as my back arched. His warm breath sent shivers through me as he fingered open the raincoat and slid his warm hands up my shirt.
"I love you too, Tucker" I almost moaned, as he pulled my t-shirt over my head.
It wasn't cold. It wasn't even uncomfortable. Everything about the situation seemed right.
His mouth trailed down my chest, slowly and methodically. He reached my nipple, flicking it with his tongue as my hands grasped his broad shoulders.
I could feel raindrops splash against my naked torso as Tucker went lower, and lower, and lower.
"Are you okay with this?" He whispered, trailing his finger down my side until it reached the waistband of my jail issued bottoms.
"Yes" I gasped, my body trembling with excitement.
His strong hands grasped my waist and sunk into the back my trousers. He held my cheeks, squeezing them tightly as I moaned.
With his hands already inside, Tucker began to lower them down ever so slowly. It was extraordinarily erotic, and I wasn't sure if he'd even reach my groin before I spilled my load.
"If there's anything you don't like" he breathed, bringing his lips back to my stomach and kissing it gently, "just tell me".
I nodded, scraping my own chest as my trousers slipped down, and the best night of my life began.

now, that is the perfect and such a beautiful way to end such a traumatizing day.
