Hello everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am launching my next installment in the Saltmarsh series: The Temple of Procan.
This seaside temple is dedicated to a nautical deity that blesses sailors as they traverse the treacherous seas.
In addition to the map, today I am trying out something new (and I hope it's well-received!). Let's talk about the weather! No, not in a small talk way. A while back, I made a poll about the weather variants I offer, and I had asked about possibly providing the .png files instead of baking the weather into the map.
A huge majority of votes were in favor of this move, so with this release, I have provided the weather .png files in both 8k and 4k resolution. I am also providing both interior and exterior files, which you can overlay onto your own maps. Though the weather is distributed a little differently, I hope this will be a more efficient way of providing you with the files that you need while keeping things as flexible as possible.
So now you will find a folder in the release section called "Weather Overlays" which contains:
Sun Rays
Rain
Fog
I will also always hand-curate the weather around the interior map so that you can use the interior overlay, and you won't have rain showing inside.
I'd love to hear your feedback on this!

I created this temple map with a Roman / Greek inspired layout as I felt it made sense given the diety. Inspired by images of Posidein and Neptune, I've even used real-world frescos and mosaic tiles of both to convey the imagery of this sea-god.

From the base of the map, you'll find a small shrine as well as many clay jugs. The local villagers believe in walking down to the ocean, filling a vessel with seawater, and carrying it to the temple. In addition to this offering, they collect any beautiful sea shells they can find and place them at the steps of the temple, or even toss them into the pool of saltwater as a donation to the temple and a sign of reverence to the sea-god.
As you walk under the triumphal arch, you will find a small outdoor pool filled with seawater. Here is where sailors are blessed by the local priest, splashed with sacred saltwater, and gifted a seashell charm. I made a version both with and without the triumphal arch, as well as an overlay for my VTT crown, so you can move tokens under it.

As you walk up the stairs and enter the temple front doors, you are greeted with the smell of the ocean from the large saltwater pool in the center of this temple. The temple is never closed to those sailors who need blessings or to those who have lost a loved one at sea. In fact, it was sanctioned by their priests and acolytes here to take "The Leap" off the nearby rocks in order to show respect for the powerful forces of the ocean and the god that rules over the crashing seas.

To the left wing of the temple, you will find a room full of seashells and various jewelry that is both created here and blessed by a small pool of holy saltwater. Below this room is a library where the acolypts of the temple educate themselves on all things ocean-related as well as logging the various voyages, storms, and other nautical events of the local town. At the end of the library is a rope where the bell-tower is pulled to signify someone is about to take "The Leap".

To the right wing, you will find the living / sleeping quarters of the priest who runs the temple, as well as the acolytes that serve here.

I hope this temple map provides a wonderful scene for your adventures! Whether your local Storm Cleric is training to increase their powers, or your Monk is learning how to harness the rage of the ocean in their fists, a temple map always makes for an essential backdrop to any Fantasy adventure!

That is officially 24 locations finished for the Town of Saltmarsh, with only six more to go! I've been mapping out Saltmarsh for quite a while now, and I'm very much looking forward to having the full town fully mapped out. I will also be working on my own versions of the adventure maps as well.
I also hope you find the new way of distributing weather to be more efficient than me saving it with each color mood file. This very much helps my workflow, keeps the file size down (both here on Patreon as well as the Foundry modules), and makes file organization a little easier.
I'm also very excited for the month of Feb as I will be working on maps for CoS: Reloaded, Lothburgh, and another CoS-inspired location.
Lastly, I want to give a special shoutout to the Titmouse Foundation, which put on a wonderful gaming day at the Titmouse Animation Studio here in Burbank, California, this last Saturday. If you're not familiar with this studio, they partnered with Critical Roll and Amazon to create the wonderful Critical Role animated show, amongst a huge catalog of wonderful animated shows.
I had a wonderful day meeting folks and playing in various games, and all of the funds raised go toward helping new and underrepresented artists in the animation field to build their careers and help them grow.
Thank you all for your continued support of my work. I am eternally grateful that I get to create maps for a living, and I could not do it without you all. I mean this, from the very depth of my heart... THANK YOU!
Cheers friends,
DM Andy
