Crabber's Cove | 40x30

Hello all, and happy new Release Monday! Today I am releasing the next map in my Saltmarsh series: Crabber's Cove

I chose this map as it was a great, spooky location to go along with my October maps, given the secret vampiric presence here and the thick rolling fog of the coast. The idea of thousands of crabs chittering and clacking in the darkness, consuming all creatures who wash up on these shores, paints a fantastic backdrop to the evil that slumbers here.

Years ago, this stretch of coast was populated by a series of homes perched upon the sea bluff overlooking the waves below. However, as the earth shifts and fierce weather hits the coast, in the years past, a landslide has sunk these homes along the coast to be battered by the ocean's wrath. All that remains are the stone foundations of these homes, now covered with seaweek and sand.

Only one house remains perched at the top of a winding stone stairway built to get to the coast. These homes have long since been abandoned, but those who live nearby report seeing lantern lights on occasion at night atop the bluff. Who would brave this perilous stretch of ocean? Even the fisherman won't go here despite the wealth of crabs available for fear of a hunting presence...

I created this map with three layers: Exterior, Interior (just the interior of the home on the bluff), and the hidden basement level of the home, which features a bound coffin.

Additionally, I realize the crabs might be a little too specific, and maybe you would want a clear beach, so I created a variant without the crabs on the map for more versatility.

With the next Saltmarsh location mapped, I'll be turning my eyes to the Carpenter's Guildhall next! As October winds down, I'll be creating a small lair map for the Industrial city of Lothburgh, where a mutated river monster lairs in a collapsed storm drain, taking those who wander near the River Jass, never to be seen again.

After this, I'll be working on some more maps for both the Reloaded and CoS projects, so stay tuned!
