Death House - Reloaded + Updated Color Moods

Hi everyone! I have something a little special for you today to celebrate the BEST month of the year. I love October and all things spooky (to no one's surprise), so I've been making some updates to my current Death House map to include changes called out in CoS: Reloaded!

Additionally, I also updated the color moods on the current version of Death House, since I had not yet refined my colors back when I created it. I was missing a few of the moods that are standard now.

And for my Foundry crowd, the talented Talanor is working on creating a Foundry module for both the standard and reloaded versions of Death House, and we'll even create a version compatible with Levels!

As a thank you for the community support, this release and the Foundry module will be 100% free to all. This post will contain the map files, but I'll update you all once the Foundry module is ready to go as well.

Here is a summary of the changes in this update:

Here are some screenshots of the Reloaded changes I made.

Added the Durst Family Portrait and Grandfather Clock
Added the sword with the Windmill Hilt above the fireplace mantle
Added fleshy cysts and arcane sigils to Walter's room
Fleshy mass in the "Boss Room" with the words "Feed Him" etched into the floor
More fleshy growth by Walter's Crypt. Yuck!

I hope you enjoy this little update! And as a reminder, once the Foundry module is ready to go, I'll create another post with the manifest URLs for download.

Happy October all! I have a month of spooky and exciting releases for you all coming up, and I can't wait to share them with you all.

Cheers friends,

DM Andy

Have you tried printing out any of my other printable PDFs? I size them for A4 US Standard Letter so you can print them on a standard home printer (Though be ready to use some ink!). I slice them so that each page is big enough for the grid to be 1 inch each so these can be quite large. A standard 30x40 map like this would print out in a total space of 34x44 (with white borders). You can check the map hub (https://www.patreon.com/posts/foundry-champion-127306981) and find Death House at the top and it has a Printable PDF download option. I just have not added the Reloaded Versions but if this works for you I'll try to get that done this week.

Fantastic map. I've already used ito in Foundry but I was thinking of running it as a mini adventure for an IRL group. Do you know how I would go about printing this at an appropriate size? I did a trial shot on A3 but it was much too small.

Hey Jay, thank you so much for your support, and I'm really jazzed that you are enjoying my work! I was pretty new to Foundry this year and there is a slight learning curve but I'm sure you'll be good. The first thing you're going to want to do is connect up your Patreon and Foundry together so it knows you are a Foundry member of mine. Otherwise you won't have access to most of my modules. To do this, go to the Foundry site (not the actual program but the site) and log in. Then click on your name > Edit Profile > and scroll to the bottom and you'll see a Patreon button. Once you link your Patreon account to Foundry, it'll know you're a member of mine and you'll be able to access anything in the Foundry Premium page that's one of my modules. The second thing I would do is check out this link here, which contains a quick install guide: https://www.patreon.com/posts/124381593?collection=1395786 For Death House specifically, this one will have to be installed via a manifest URL (Which I cover in the vid) and you can find those details on the Death House Post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/143211451?collection=1395786 The reason this is not on Foundry Premium is that any map that is a derivative work of any of the WotC products (such as a specific map recreation from the book) is subject to additional terms concerning IP, and those can't be on Foundry Premium. But a majority of my maps can be installed directly from Foundry. Death House has two versions to install via the compendium. The first version is the standard version that utilizes regions to teleport tokens from floor to floor. Essentially, I'm throwing up a telemport prompt, and if confirmed, your players would teleport to the next map (1st floor to 2nd floor, for instance). The second version of the install includes "Levels," which requires additional modules to make it work. However, it should work out of the box once you have everything installed. This essentially uses layers of .png files that I overlay on top of each other and assign a height. So the building roof/facade, and each floor, are on their own cut out, so it's all on the same map page. No teleporting, and the transition from floor to floor is seamless. It's a bit more to install but the results are fantastic. I don't want to overwhelm you too much, so I'll leave it here. But feel free to shoot me a message if you get stuck, and I'll respond in the AM (It's close to bedtime for me here). Cheers friend

Hey Andy! I found your art and was blown away. I'm about to have session zero for Strahd next week and really looking forward to using your maps in the game. I'm pretty new to Foundry and wondering if you have an article for how to unpack and sort a download like this? Or maybe someone else in the community can point me in the right direction? I want to test my setup out with Death House and these beautiful maps! Thanks man!

Also, do you have a way to contact Dragna Carta? I have sent an email but gotten no response as I would love to create a module for Reloaded to be used with Fantasy Grounds.

We just got to the attic so unfortunately missed all the great updates for everything except the dungeon.

Theodore Story

That's a really great idea! I'll have to think more about overlays like this when I'm making my future maps and see how I can integrate more overhanging features. Thanks for the suggestion!

Andy D'Amato

As someone who usually went through the painstaking process of cutting out everything myself to make it work with Levels in Foundry, this makes me very happy and might make me go to the Foundry tier of supporting. Some small things that would make this even better is overhead tiles. In this release, there's only a single roof tile, but I love giving immersion with some overhanging items that are visible even when players are underneath them (in this release the cobwebs would be an excellent candidate for that, but also stuff like lanterns, chandeliers or the wooden beams in the secret staircase).
