Foundry: Coffin Maker's Shop with Levels!
Added 2025-09-04 21:26:32 +0000 UTC
Hey everyone! I'm really excited to share this update with you. When I first started my Foundry journey, along with Talanor (who is the talented developer who has built all my Foundry modules), I opted out of using Levels as I wanted to keep things as minimal as possible. Not being a Foundry power-user myself, I didn't want to overwhelm what I felt was an already overwhelming process.
However, I always knew that eventually I wanted to use Levels more once I was able to start creating transparent backgrounds. I made a post a few days ago talking about new workflows and processes that have allowed me to start distributing more .png files, like roofs / building facades and upper levels.
Well, the exciting news is that Talanor has now created a Levels version of my module! Using both Levels and Better Roofs, this optional version will allow you to choose which module you'd like when importing from the compendium.
This is our first Levels module, so I wanted to share it with you all for any feedback (I really do hope you love it, though!).
A few notes:
This manifest URL is a different URL from the original Coffin Maker's Shop module we put together, as I wanted a separate URL to test with. However, going forward, we won't maintain two modules like this.
We will still have a non-Levels version available as well. When you import from the Compendium, it will give you two choices (Levels and non-Levels)
Foundry might pop up a window stating that you'll need to install Levels and its dependencies to work; however, if you don't plan on using this version of the module, you can simply ignore that
Everything should be plug & play. I have never actually used the Levels module myself, so I went into testing completely blind (Which was by design, as I wanted to replicate the "first time user experience"). So even if you've never used it, so long as you install the correct modules/dependencies, you should not have to mess with any settings.
Assuming everything looks good, we plan on including a Levels variant for future releases. Back catalog maps will be a different challenge altogether since I'll have to go back and generate .png files for those floors, so I may not be able to do this with maps that are not using my own asset library. With that said, I will do my very best to work with Talanor to get older maps updated to Levels.
So if you'd like to help me test and check out the FIRST Levels module for DM Andy Maps, you can install it using this manifest URL: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/6l7oiv45ok8u2jvhqzwkm/module.json?rlkey=x4zi5jm6ehg1aqy76e95ddwuk&dl=1
Hope you all enjoy
Cheers,
DM Andy

That's fantastic!! It's so fun to see how common it is to just burn the place down so I just HAD to make a burning version haha Glad to hear the map was useful! I hope you enjoy the Levels version. The transition from floor to floor is so seamless.

2025-09-05 00:58:33 +0000 UTCThat is great. Almost the right time. I just DMd last week a battle with Volenta in the previous coffin maker battlemap. BTW my players loved when they had an idea to burn the house to destroy the nest and I change map to the burning setup.
