Hello everyone and happy New Release Monday! Today, I have the next map for my CoS V2.0 Project: The Coffin Maker's Shop.
I prioritized this map next in Vallaki since there is a very high chance of combat taking place, and it needed an update from the original one I did over 4 years ago now.
In addition to the updated map, I even created a "burning" version for all three levels (exterior, 1st, and 2nd floors) since nearly every time I've run CoS or been here as a player, this place has burned down! (Along with so many other Vallaki buildings).
I hope this map will come in handy for your sessions!
Oh, and one last thing... I'd love to know the fate of Henrik in your games. Did he survive the ordeal? Did he burn down with his shop? Did the vamps get him for letting the heroes mess with their plans?

This map is created on a 20x30 grid featuring a walkway to the shop with sparse cobblestone. I wanted the road to be a little bigger for wagons to come and go, loaded up with fresh coffins.
Toward the back of the building, you'll find a few other Vallaki homes, a shed, and an outhouse, but I wanted to make this feel sparse and isolated from the "hub" of the main portion of the city.
From the outside of the 2nd floor, I replaced the window in the storage attic with a set of doors and a crane to lift shipments of lumber up to the 2nd floor, which made more sense for the logistics of the shop and the heavy material that's being stored up there.
I kept the interior mostly as described in the module, but I added as much immersive detail as I could to make each room feel lived in and alive.
The woodworking shop is covered with sawdust and tools, and a keen eye will notice blueprints on a writing table for coffin design, a coffin that has its philigre half etched into the wood, and a new coffin being constructed. I also added a fabric station since it made sense for Henrik to stitch in silks and other soft materials for the interior of the coffin for the nicer ones.
For the coffin display area, I wanted this to feel more like a showroom and sales area, so there are a variety of coffins on display made of various materials. In the center, you'll find a pricebook based on materials and addons (like carved symbols, silk or fur lining, and different woods)
For the 2nd floor, you'll find the main attic full of stacks of lumber and crates, along with Henrik's kitchen and bedroom. I wanted to feature the number of books Henrik keeps, as well as the wardrobe where the bones are hidden. Of course, he has another reading/writing desk to work on blueprints or study woodworking design to enhance his craft.

You'll also notice all of the windows have their shutters closed and locked, as well as some boarded up to keep prying eyes away from looking in. If only they knew the terrible secret that Henrik is hiding!
And lastly, I created an "on fire" version for each floor, which you can swap out as the fire spreads. I mean, let's face it, anyone with a fire spell has a very high chance of catching the stacks of lumber and sawdust up, and this place will burn down quickly!

For my VTT Tier folks, I have created transparent versions of the roof and 2nd floor levels, including color-matching them to each color mood, a "no lights" version, and a flaming version!

*Will have the Foundry Module ready within a few days of this post

I hope you've enjoyed this remake of a Vallaki classic!! I still have plans to rework the other buildings I've done, including: Watcherhaus, the Town Square, Aresek Stockyard, The Orphanage, Reformation Center, Sanguine Rose, and a few streets and alley maps to round out all possible encounters!
Thank you all for your continued support of my craft, and I have so many exciting projects I can't wait to share with you all, as well as some fantastic new assets I have in the works that will really bring my maps to life.
Cheers friends,
DM Andy
