CoS Reloaded: Chief's Longhouse | 50x50

Hello everyone and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am releasing the next map in the CoS Reloaded series: The Chief's Longhouse.

If you're not yet familiar with CoS Reloaded, this is a free guide and overhaul of the entire CoS module, which can be found here. It was created by the talented DragnaCarta and adds tons of new locations for your characters to explore.

This map features Chief Diegia's Longhouse, where she lives with her family and leads the Mountain Folk of Mt. Ghakis. This creates a wonderful tie-in with both the Druids and the Amber Temple and gives your players a nice break from the treacherous climb to the top of the mountain in search of the Amber Temple. Here, they can feast with the Chief or engage in a boasting match with other members of the tribe.

I made this map slightly larger since the building is quite large. It is built using a 50x50 grid and features a bit of the outside area, building exterior, and interior (one single floor with a large blueprint).

For the Interior map, I created two versions. One normal version with benches around the central hearth and Chief Diegia's throne in the center. The other version adds large tables spanning the hearth area and also pushes the Chief's throne back and adds her table to the upper portion so you can run "The Night of Clear Skies" from the written adventure.

I had a wonderful time creating the building facade and took great care to add as much Nordic-inspired detail as I could!

The interior includes the central hearth and throne area, with large pillars holding up the high roof and rafters, the central communal hearth, and the raised portion with the throne where the Chief's judgement is passed.

To the right side, you have a storage room where the extra tables are kept, as well as salted meats and supplies. The room below it is a meeting room for the Chief and the tribes elders so they can discuss and debate important tribal matters concerning the Mountain Folk.

To the left side is the family living quarters where the Chief, her husband, and her children live, eat, and sleep.

For my VTT crowd, I included transparent files for both the exterior building facade and the large central pillars from the interior in each color mood. If you're using a module that allows for multiple images overlaid, you can move tokens under the pillars so they don't take up too much interior room. I hope these files are useful!

I hope you've enjoyed my CoS Reloaded map series so far! I am nearly done with/ Arc R at this point (outside of the standard Tsolenka Pass reworks that I plan to do), and I'll work with Dragna to see which other Arcs he wants mapped out next.

Thank you all for your continued support of my craft!! I say it every week, but I am truly grateful for you all and will continue to work hard on my craft to help enhance your tables.

Cheers Friends,

DM Andy

Really happy to hear this feedback! There have been some new tools added to my map-making software, including the ability to create as many layers as I want and the option to make the background transparent. So long as I plan my map accordingly, I can export the floor in a very clean way. I have to do a few tricks to ensure it color matches in Photoshop but overall I'm happy with the new workflow! It'll be a challenge to update older maps that were not built with this new tool, but at least going forward, I have a great way to handle this. Glad to hear you're a fan :)

Absolutely frothing at the mouth with the new layer cutouts. Never have I ever seen edges so smooth and clean and areas pre-shaded. It's enough to make me weep. Absolute hours of preptime saved
