Ghosts of Saltmarsh - The Sea Ghost | 20x30

Update July 23rd, 2025: I noticed a visual issue with some of the forward mast ropes on the Upper Deck, Crow's Nest, and Upper Rigging maps. I've reprocessed all of those files again (phew!) to fix this issue. If you've already downloaded these maps, I'd suggest re-downloading them again and swapping out those three levels.

For my VTT users, I've also corrected the .png files.

Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I'm super excited to bring you part II of the Sinister Secrets of Saltmarsh map, The Sea Ghost.

If you missed the first part of the adventure, you can find those maps here and also here if you want a restored / empty version of the house to use as a Bastion.

I am also planning a future update to this ship to provide each floor as an "empty" version so you have more flexibility with how you use this ship. We all know your players are going to try and take her! Though I don't have an ETA yet, just know it'll be in my future plans.

Also, great news for those who support the VTT tier, as I'll be providing .png files for each ship level, including the upper rigging, so you can really use these to create multi-level maps! I've also color matched them to each color mood, so you can use your favorite color along with the transparent background files.

Lastly, tomorrow I have a special treat and a ton of free maps with my good map-making friends: Angela Maps, Bearworks, Eledryll, D&Demetrius, & S SO 03 3! We each made nautical / pirate-themed maps, so in addition to the Sea Ghost, you'll get five more free maps tomorrow, so be on the lookout for this post. It is always such an honor to collaborate with these amazing map-makers, and each one really pulled out the stops to make some incredible maps.

In addition, Angela has been so kind as to volunteer her time to build a free Foundry module, which includes all six maps! (I will also have my own Foundry VTT module as well for just the Sea Ghost).

I made this map with the following map levels:

This way, you can use the level that even suits your play-style best, and I hope the transparent files of each will allow for a lot more flexibility in how you stack the levels.

I really took my time studying rigging diagrams and ship blueprints to get it as close to accurate as I can (without ever having stepped foot on a sailing vessel such as this!). I'm no nautical expert, but I hope I got it as close to believable as I could! Here are some close-up images of each level.

This was a huge project, and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! I probably watched Master & Commander three times while building this, as well as listened to awesome sea shanties and played through the Ghosts of Saltmarsh set by the talented RPG Music Maker Travis Savoie to really immerse myself in this ship map.

Next up, I'll be working on the next map in the CoS: Reloade Series, a new map for the Lothburgh Series, and the next CoS updated map for Vallaki!

I THANK YOU all for your support. Through you, I'm able to support my family and dedicate as much time as I can to my craft, create new assets, and further the VTT development. Your support is everything to me, and I hope I continue to contribute to your tables, be it virtual or in person.

Cheers friends,

DM Andy

Pyram is doing incredible work flushing out Saltmarsh! He just released an article recently on Kester's Leather Goods as well and him and I have currently talking about the Carpenter's Guild location. Very excited to be working with him on the Saltmarsh project. Your idea is awesome! RIght now the Sea Ghost is my only ship map (Well, I have one more but it's an older map and in a different perspective). Eventually I want to make more ship maps with varying sizes so you can use those in and around Saltmarsh, place them in docks, give them to your players etc. I don't know when yet, but eventually I'll have a handful of ships. I'll also create a few ocean maps as well with so you can have naval battles. In the meantime, I made some larger ocean maps (they are 100x100 maps but honestly, you could size them any size you want). One has a series of islands along with the iconic skull rock (a staple of any pirate campaign) and one is rough ocean waters which is great for using the environment in an epic naval battle. I'm just starting a Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign and subscribed to Pyram King's Legends of Saltmarsh, which led me to your Patreon page. I love all your maps! I was wondering if you could make a large map that has The Sea Ghost main deck on one side and the main deck of a slightly larger ship parallel on the other side (basically as if they were going to broadside each other, but with a lot of empty ocean in between? This kind of map would allow me to run naval ship-to-ship combat with much smaller representations of each ship in the middle to portray the 2 ships manuevering against one another. It would be really awesome. Thanks for your amazing work!

Dhavaram

I need to run that mini adventure again I think ^^

Dungeon of Terra

That's quite the compliment!! Thank you so much for saying so. Maybe you'll run a nautical one shot one day and you'll need a ship map :)
