Champion Tier - Primewater Mansion: Part I

Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am launching Part I of the Primewater Mansio,n which includes the exterior mansion along with the grounds and the private dock below.

This opulent manor stands as a testament to wealth and prosperity, overlooking the bustling harbor below the cliffs on which it was built. But behind the veil of legally acquired riches, a hidden smuggling ring operates within the city, bypassing trade laws to profit.

Will your party be swept up in the political games of the city? Or will they expose the smuggling operation, risking angering powerful individuals?

I went with a more Mediterranean look / feel for the mansion architecture as I felt it was suited for Saltmarsh and the surrounding areas. The manor itself, while near the harbor, is built on top of a cliff rise, which allows it to overlook the harbor and the shipping operations below.

On the grounds, I added two front entrances, one for the home and the other for a direct path to the stables to bring supply carts from the town around the back of the building. Additionally, I added a small vineyard for a personal vintage of wine and a back door leading to the overlook and private docks.

The overlook is built right on the cliff edge, allowing a clear view of the harbor below. This allows for easy observation of shipping operations from the home and the overlook. There is a large crane which is used to off-load all manner of imported goods from the ships below in order to throw one of many lavish parties bringing in the finest foods and drinks available.

Finally, below the deck is a personal dock, which allows ships to bypass the busy harbor docks and offload goods directly to the Primewater Mansion (Some even say the owner always has a small boat prepared in case they need to make a hasty getaway!).

I created two core versions of this map; one to include the blur over the docks/ocean below to give a sense of height and the other without the blur effect. This way, if your players are at the docks below and climb the stairs to the top, you can add a sense of height. This will also be used when the Foundry module is created for this map to transition between scenes.

For my Champion Tier Patrons, you'll get the following with this release:

As most of you know, my manor maps are quite a lot of work (normally 2-3 weeks), so I ended up splitting them up into two parts. The next part of this map will be the interior which will include two stories of the home as well as a third story for the front tower (This will be a rookery where birds are housed and used to send messages to the ships below). I will also have the interior of the stables as well.

I will also be doing part 3, which will include the wine cellar below but will also feature a sprawling "dungeon" type map with smuggler tunnels leading from the personal dock to the wine cellar, as well as some twists and paths leading off the map. My goal here is to create a series of smuggler tunnel maps that can be used throughout Saltmarsh so you can run all sorts of smuggling operation encounters! These tunnels connect both Primewater Mansion and the Oweland House, so it could provide some very fun ideas to connect those locations!

After this, I'll be working on a special Village of Barovia parchment map to finish my VoB series. If this map is well-received, I'd love to also do similar parchment maps for Vallaki and Krezk (maybe even a parchment map of the swamps of Berez, too!).

And, of course, I have my other projects, including the next set of Winter's Grasp maps, a new Vallaki location, and the next map in the Lothburgh series!

In addition to my map work, I'm still pending the Patreon billing changeover (they are about 3 weeks late but have assured me it will take place in March). Once this is complete I'll be able to connect my Tiers to the Foundry Premium Content Syster and get more Foundry modules released!

Last but not least, I've been updating the printable PDFs on my older maps when I have time between all the work above. I appreciate your patience as I manage all of this!

Thank you all for your support!

Cheers,

DM Andy
