Hey everyone and happy New Release Monday! It's the first map release for March and I'm super excited to share with you all a new project collaboration with Lunch Break Heroes.
LBH has been hard at work creating a wonderfully noir, dark and gritty setting set in the Victorian / Gothic inspired city of Lothburgh. This campaign setting will be created for 5e and will be Kickstarted at some point in the future. As DM Andy Community Members, you all get to have a first look at the maps being created to support the adventures in this book.
First, we have the starting point for the entire campaign: The Streets of Whistwick (one of many boroughs throughout the city), where your party's Investigator Office is located. At the core of the campaign, your party of heroes all have various backgrounds that led them to start a life of crime fighting and set up their own private investigation agency, where they take on various jobs, including missing persons, paranormal investigations, and even murders!
If you're looking to follow the Lothburgh project more in-depth, be sure to check out Lunch Break Hereos on Patreon so you can participate in shaping the world of Lothburgh!
The map design was a new art direction for me and it was excited to explore a more Victorian-era style of building. I wanted these maps to big. Really big! My goal was the have the weight of the city closing in on you like an oppressive fist tightening its grip. The borough of Whistwick is not as nice as the opulent Milleatte where the well-to-do live, but also not quite as dire as the soot-covered industrial streets of New Ashes.
Though electricity is being used in certain parts, there is still a high level of misinformation and mistrust of this new "magic". As such, oil lamps, torches, and candles are still widely used throughout the streets. Smog, soot, and ash can be found caked across the building rooftops, which have elements of gothic, neo-classical, and a touch of Art Deco inspiration to them.
The map features a T-section of the streets with plenty of rooftops and elevation for all manner of encounters. Additionally, I've created an interior map for the Investigator's Office, which can be found at the bottom level of one of many buildings around the district. This is your party's base of operations, where they take on new jobs and discuss the various clues they have found.
Additionally, I've created three new color moods for these sets of maps which I felt was more fitting for the setting:
The Witching Hour; a creepy, dark and brooding mood perfect for supernatural encounters
Cold Iron; A cold, almost unfeeling mood to give the sense of grey skies looming overhead
Smog & Soot; A gritty, dirty, and grimy version that will make your players feel like they need to cover their faces before going outside!
Lastly, I've introduced a new weather overlay since Sun Rays did not make much sense here. I now have an "Embers" version to show the embers of industry being cast into the skies from the blackened smokestacks that grind and churn the wheels of Industry.
For my Champion Tier patrons, you will get the following with this release:
NEW: Printable PDFs! For the first time, I'm including printable PDFs so you can pick your favorite color mood and print (currently set up for US letter-sized paper at 8.5x11 inches). This will allow you to use them for in-person play. They will be included going forward, and I will update my back catalog as time permits.
Six Color Moods: Cold Iron, Gloom, Night, Smog & Soot, Sunny Day, & The Witching Hour
Three Weather Options including: Rain, Fog, & Embers
8k & 4k Image Resolution

I hope you've enjoyed this map release, and I'm looking forward to creating more going forward. Next, I'll be pivoting back to the Dragna CoS: Reloaded Project for the Ice Cave in the Tsolenka Pass series of encounters (which is connected with the Bodak Lair).
And for my Saltmarsh friends, don't worry, I've not forgotten about you! Next on my Saltmarsh list will be a big one; The Primewater Mansion!
That's it for now! Thank you all for your continued support and I hope I can keep delivering the map quality that you all deserve.
Cheers friends,
DM Andy
