Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am heading back to the town of Vallaki to map out the first, in a two-part release featuring the exterior of the Baron's Mansion.
The looming estate of Vallaki’s notorious Baron stands as a stark reminder of his iron-fisted rule. Worn cobblestone paths lead to the grand yet imposing facade, surrounded by eerie, withered gardens and a high stone wall that offers little sanctuary from the horrors of Barovia. Whether your players are here to negotiate, infiltrate, or lay siege, this battlemap sets the stage for intrigue, confrontation, and rebellion.
All will be well!
The biggest update you'll see with this map is that I changed the orientation from a landscape style to a portrait style. Like the Blue Water Inn, I wanted a chance to create the building facade looming over the stone and iron wall that surrounds the mansion.
I added extra room outside of the gates for villagers to amass in case the upheaval escalates in your game, and for a man as paranoid as the Baron, I included a large iron gate to keep any dissenters at bay.
The ground is still muddy from frequent rains and the plants are withered and twisted, representing the corrupt nature of the land.
I added grandiose archways and statues around the yard to make it one of the nicer places in town. You'll find a well and fountain in the back, a small garden, and the staff outhouse.
You'll even notice a little rebellious troublemaker added a phrase to the outer wall, which might indicate all is not what it seems.
On that note, I created an "on fire" version of the map for each color version, as I feel most games in Vallaki tend to take this approach. This could be a nice visual scene to include in your games if the people have had enough.
For my Champion Tier patrons, you will get the following with this release:
Exterior and "on fire" version
8k & 4k Image Resolution
Six Color Moods: Dark Fairytale, Ghostly, Gloom, Night, Sunny Day, and Warm
Weather Effects including: Sun Rays, Fog, & Rain
No Lights Version
Grid & No Grid
Anytime I do manor maps, they are pretty extensive builds. From both the inner and outer details of the house, they are some of my most detailed and elaborate maps, and as such, they take twice as long to make, sometimes longer! Next up will be the interior levels, including floors 1, 2, and the attic level.
I hope you enjoy the map. I'll catch up with you all on Thursday for a sneak peek of the interior! Thank you all so much for your continued support!
Cheers,
DM Andy
