Hello everyone and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am launching my version of the maps from the adventure Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh!
This adventure / location is a wonderful place to introduce your players to Saltmarsh or even use it as a one-shot adventure or a drag / drop for any of your own homebrew campaigns. If you need a creepy, abandoned house by the coast, this map is for you!
This is part one of a two part release and includes:
Exterior of the house
1st Floor
2nd Floor
Attic
Next week I will have part two which includes the basement and caven level below.
This map is slightly larger than I typically make gridded at 40x50. I wanted to be sure to include both the cliff bluffs on the coast and the full grounds surrounding the house.
I also took a lot of inspiration from the wonderful piece of artwork featured in the book with the adventurings acedning up the sandy path toward the house. I wanted to capture this approach on the map by creating a coastal path winding up the sandy bluffs where the house will come into full view.
The adventure indicates certain key areas of the exterior which I've included such as:
Overgrown rose bushes
Crumpling wall surrounding the house
Overgrown garden area
Old well
When I create the underground basement / caverns, it will empty out to the lower right side of the bluffs but I created the exterior map to make it not visually obvious there is a cave entrance down there (since it's supposed to be hidden by the smugglers).
For the interior, each room contains it's own brand of broken down and abandoned. Broken wood, rugs, and furniture tell the story of a house that was once full of live, now crumbling under the harsh coastal weather. Mold growing and creepy in on almost every surface due to the moisture in the air and humidity of this location. Even the creeping vines from the houseside have punctured their way through the rotted floor boards and have begun their invasion into the 1st floor. Most of the ground level windows have been broken and boarded up but a few of the upstairs windows are still intact. Some say they see strange lights coming from the 2nd floor but that might just be local fisherman superstition!
For my Champion Tier patrons, this release includes:
4 Levels of the Haunted House: Exterior, 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, Attic
6 Color Moods to set the perfect vibe, including: Dark Fairytale, Ghostly, Gloom, Night, Sunny Day, and Warm
Optional weather features including: Fog, rain and sun rays
8k & 4k image resolution

I'll be working on part two of this adventure next which features the large basement level leading out to the caverns under the house. These caverns will empty out into the ocean by way of a small cave leading directly into the seaside cliffs!
To end the month, I have a special Halloween themed map I will be creating featuring custom art from the very talented "Caleb is Drawing" and will include one of my favorite locations from one of my favorite attractions! I hope you all enjoy this month of creepy maps and I'll catch up with you all on Thursday for the sneak peek. As always, thank you for your continued support of my craft!
Cheers,
DM Andy
