September 2024 - Montly Recap

Hey everyone, and welcome to my monthly recap post! Here is where I review each of the maps released this month and provide you with the links for each of them in case you missed anything (if you're like me, my inbox is always so cluttered all the time so it's easy to miss a map drop alert!).

Additionally, there are currently two resources to help you find the maps you need:

Let's review the maps I put out in September!

Burgomaster's Manor

This was a two-part release due to its sheer size! I adore manor maps, but they are by far one of the most time-consuming maps for me to make. This particular map took me about three weeks in total! But I feel it was worth it because I loved exploring this location in my own CoS game, and my party spent a lot of time here talking with Ireena and Ismark. I also ran the siege of the manor and had some epic fights here!

In case you missed it, I created a fun little trailer with a scene between Ismark and Ireena which you can view here.

I was lucky enough to collaborate with the incredible "Caleb is Drawing" and was allowed to use his artwork of Ireena and Ismark for the scene. If you are looking for some great NPC art, be sure to check out Caleb is Drawing, as I'm sure you will not be disappointed. I have also commissioned an art project from Caleb as well for my special Halloween map I'll be working on next month so if you're not already a Champion Tier member, now would be a great time to sign up!

The manor has four core maps, which include:

Here is a little shot of the exterior:

Boarded-up windows and a partially collapsed rusty iron gate were the only lines of defense between the undead hordes and the siblings defending their home. You should have plenty of room to add undead tokens on this map as they assault the manor from all sides and attempt to break through!

Each room of the interior was lovingly put together, and I included details such as braids of garlic, holy symbols, and stakes scattered throughout the home. I wanted the interior to feel like it was once opulent but has fallen into despair without any staff to help maintain the upkeep. Each window has been shattered and boarded up, and you can even spot claw marks on the floors and furniture, along with tattered curtains depicting past battles.

I also created a version with and without Kolyan's coffin so you have some options when using this house.

Winter's Grasp: Blood on the Vine, Bildrath's Mercantile, and Mad Mary's Townhome

If you don't already know, a few months ago, I launched a new map project called "Winter's Grasp," where I take previous maps I've created and give them a wintery overhaul. Unless the core map features snowy terrain, I often don't include a "snow" variant because I don't just want to change the colors and call it day. Each Winter's Grasp map contains thousands of edits and complete retextures, and I will even tweak various items on the map to make it more aligned with the snowy environment. So each month, I aim to release a handful of wintery re-done maps to give you more range of map use and even more variety to play your favorite modules in (such as CoS or even RotFM).

This month, I was able to give three iconic locations within the Village of Barovia a wintery overhaul, including:

Whether you're using these maps for their intended use as locations within the Village of Barovia or for other campaigns, they will surely give you more places to explore in your icy and snowy games.

City Docks

As I continue to map out the wonderfully bright and vibrant city of Saltmarsh, I'm always so excited to create my take on iconic fantasy locations such as city docks. I really enjoyed working on this map in such a stark contrast to the dark and dreary maps I normally work on, and it was so much fun being able to expand on this city. With 19 locations mapped out, the city is really starting to take shape! City docks maps are hugely useful and this one was a smaller version of what I intend on expanding on for future releases. I wanted something that was a great launching point for smaller ships or even your players own ship as they set sail on their various quests! With most of the Saltmarsh harbor being docks, I'll be sure to include even more dock maps like this in the future.

Thank you for supporting me for another incredible month of map-making! Your support helps me make my dreams of map making for a living reality and also helps me hire other incredibly talented (and human!) artists for custom DM Andy Maps art and assets! I always aim to create the most immersive and detailed maps you can find, and I look forward to October's map lineup.

Thank you for your continued support of my craft!

Cheers,

DM Andy
