Champion Tier - Saltmarsh - The Empty Net - [30x40]

Hello everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am releasing my version of the Empty Net inspired by the location in Saltmarsh. This is a two-story tavern built on top of a weathered pier jutting out into the harbor. Its location is known to attract the rough & tumble, and some say if you need to smuggle goods, this would be the place to do it. The local town guards know to stay away unless absolutely necessary. Better keep a sharp eye open and another eye on your coin purse when you enter the Empty Net!

This map has three core versions: 1st floor, 2nd floor, and roof levels.

1st Floor

Here, you will find the tavern floor with dim lighting and the sounds of waves crashing into the rickety pier it's built on. The sounds of creaking floorboards resemble that of a creaking ship. You will find two bars serving all manner of ale and liquor and plenty of spaces for your party to make some shady deals with the rough locals that frequent this establishment. Those who mess around might lose a tiny part of them, which is displayed in a gruesome jar of murky liquid set on top of the bar as a warning.

2nd Floor

Mostly used as a storage for goods that are brought to the Empty Net by way of small row boats from outside, this large warehouse-like room contains goods from all corners of the world for trade or sale. There are large doors that open up and allow for attaching the wooden pallets, which can be lowered to the dock below to load up on goods from rowboats moored at the pier. Toward the back, the proprietor of the Empty Net has their room ready, creating a cozy place to track their deliveries and deals.

In this seemingly mundane warehouse, there is a secret entrance on the back wall that opens up into a room housing the rare and valuable ill-gotten goods that have been smuggled to the Empty Net. Those are only for trusted traders and buyers only!

Facing the ocean is a balcony with a large plank looming over the cold and reeking waters of the harbor. If anyone from the tavern causes any trouble, they are brought up here and tossed into the ocean while the tavern go-ers cheer and laugh.

Map Details

Next up, I'll be working on a set of maps to support a new Lunch Break Hereos adventure that will also be featured in their Kickstarter Librus Nocturnum. This will feature locations in a massive cathedral so huge it's its own demi-plane!

I'm also hoping soon I'll be able to knock out the interior locations on my first Village of Barovia map (The Gothic Village) and also start re-working some of the key locations in town. At some point soon, I'd also like to get parchment maps done for both Castle Ravenloft and Death House as well, so be on the lookout for that!

2024 is starting strong, and I'm super excited to see what the year has in store for the RPG world. Thank you as always for your continued support, without you I would not be able to continue to dedicate the time to my work and for that I am always thankful!

Cheers,

DM Andy

Comments

That's correct. I added three entrances to the main level, the main entrance (bottom left) and two back entrances that lead to the bar area for restocking (one set of double doors to the bottom of the east wall and a single door to the top of the east wall).

Are those two back doors on the east side, kind of behind the bar?
