Champion Tier - Interactive Tome of Strahd: Prologue

Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday!

Today, I am revisiting an old favorite and finishing up the last two maps I needed to mark this project as complete. I present to you the Prologue scene as described in the incredible third-party supplement, The Interactive Tome of Strahd, written by The Aciduous Adventurer. You can find a copy of this incredible supplement here, which brings the Tome of Strahd item to life and allows your players to experience Strahd's history firsthand.

This map features Strahd's ancestral home courtyard where your players meet him as a child. Your players can experience one of the first moments of jealousy with his brother Sergei and his path to becoming the warlord in the name of the Von Zarovich family.

This courtyard is a 30x20 gridded area that features high walls surrounding a small and quiet courtyard. There is a small training area in the bottom left and some peaceful features, such as a statue honoring a hero to the family and two fountain features. There are some outbuildings that lead deeper into the castle off-screen. I also included the signal of the Von Zarovich family on the banners hanging from the walls.

I created the main "dream-state" version, which gives the feel of the memory your players are visiting, reminding them of the detached nature of the magic that creates this scene. However, I've created all of the other color moods without the dream-state effect, so you can use this in your various campaigns as a castle courtyard encounter. The high walls are great for a betrayal or ambush as archers surround your players in the center of the courtyard.

In addition to the "Sunny Day" dream-state version, I created a total of 8 color moods to create different moods for your games:

Each one contains various weather effects as well, such as rain, fog, and sun rays.

For my Champion Tier patrons, this release comes with the following:

With the prologue done, all I have left to finish up is the restored Burgomaster's manor in Berez to support chapter 12 of the Interactive Tome. I'm hoping to slate this in earlier rather than later, but I don't have an exact date yet (manor maps can be quite time-consuming, so I need to balance this one out with other larger projects I have).

As I shared yesterday, I'm working on my first re-work of the Village of Barovia proper. This will be a more generic street map so you can run any VoB encounters you might have planned (Zombies, Morgantha, Death House, etc). It will be exterior only for now, but will go back and update each building to have interior details as well.

Lastly, I have been working on some updates to an older map I created for Lunch Break Heroes, which is the desecrated chapel. I created my normal color moods and also created a roof (which it was lacking before). I'll share these updates for free within the week!

As I finish this up and head into December, I'll be switching back to mapping Saltmarsh with the magical shop of the Faithful Quartermasters of Iuz, and I'm excited to be working my way through all 30 of the Saltmarsh locations.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of my work, and I'm excited for the next few maps I have planned!

Cheers,

DM Andy

Oh that's wonderful!! My players have LOVED the Tome stories so far and at this point, I pretty much have maps for the entire IToS with the exception of the Burgomaster of Berez's garden (though to be fair, that's not really part of it).

So glad to have this! Been needing a prologue map for a while. It's nice to have this in your style! My party is finally at Marina's lake, about to confront her, and retrieve the tome!

Great questions and good timing. I have that project slated for late March. :)

Out of curiosity, any update on the restored Burgomaster's Manor in Berez?
