Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday! I'm back from a much-needed vacation and have been hitting the ground running with my map work. This month's focus was on flushing out some generic locations to give you plenty of maps to use in a pinch to flush out your overland encounters. This week, I have created a map for a location that I have personally run in CoS, but I also feel is generic enough to be used in any campaign. South of the Village Barovia, you can see the River Ivlis, and around this flooded terrain is a soggy, almost marsh-like wetlands where the river floods.
I used this as a small introduction quest for my players to retrieve some adventuring goods for the greedy Bildrath in exchange for a (small) discount in his overpriced shop. He fully believes the players will not return and runs this little scam by sending out his nephew to collect their gear and replenish his overpriced merchandise (oh, that Bildrath!). In my own game, I ran some low-level Drowners from the Witcher series that I pulled from the amazing Book of Beautiful Horrors contributed by u/Regreem on Reddit. You can find the link to this free resource here.

While I know there are many river maps out there, I wanted this river to feel flooded with many different areas of difficult terrain for a tactical combat encounter. You will find large pools of water that have flooded from the main river as it flows away from the Tser Falls. With areas for height, lots of slippery rocks, and pools of stagnant water, you should have no problems adding lurking monsters ready to enjoy a tasty meal of heroes.
For the color moods on this map, I went a little overboard and created ten different color moods to cover a wide array of settings. For this release, I have created the following color moods along with various weather effects:
For my Champion Tier Patrons, you get the following with this release:

As I return to normalcy after my vacation, I've already started on my next map release, which I'm very excited about. A few of you have requested this as well, so next up will be a re-work of Pyram King's awesome Count Manor dungeon he created to swap out the basement-level dungeon of Death House. I've been employing some new tools and techniques on my maps and am excited to bring you this dungeon!
After this, I will be pivoting to a big map for the Saltmarsh series covering the Dwarven Mining Company HQ. This map will be a mansion turned into the Dwarven Mining company with offices, smelters, and a vault underneath. Great place for a quest hub or even a heist!
As we head into the spookiest month of the year, I'll be working my CoS re-works and creating some Village of Barovia farmlands before tackling the village proper. The Village of Barovia was amongst the first large map I ever made for CoS, and I'm very excited to visit those forlorn muddy streets again.
Lastly, last next month, as we head toward Dia de Muertos, as a nod to my wife's Mexican culture, I plan on making a map inspired by the beautiful cemeteries there, illuminated with candles and covered in marigolds and offerings to the various Ofrendas built for the city's loved ones. Perfect for the Fiend of Hollow Mine adventure from the Radiant Citadel book, which I ran last year for Halloween with my gaming group, and they all loved being able to build their own Ofrendas for those they lost.
As always, thank you for your amazing continued support. I am humbled and honored by your belief in me to continue making maps that add value to your games!
Cheers,
DM Andy
