Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday! I've finally finished this beast of a map, and today I present the 2nd floor and roof levels of the Wicker Goat Inn & Tavern.
Admittedly, this map was a lot more work than I had initially thought; however, this marks one of the most detailed inn/tavern maps I've ever done. Inspired by the Saltmarsh location, I wanted this location to feel significant and old and did not skimp on the details. I'll cover more below.
If you missed the first part of this map, the 1st floor, you can find that post here.

This is the oldest tavern/inn in Saltmarsh, and I wanted this location to look weathered and old yet sturdy and full of character. The 2nd floor leads from the main area below via two sets of stairs. Here you will find tables and chairs for more private meetings while still being able to enjoy the revelry below. I rarely get to add rafters, and this small detail was very exciting to show on a map without cluttering up the playing area with features from the ceiling.
For me, any coastal/pirate-themed campaign needs as many rafter / ship-mast areas to have all sorts of fun sword fights on, and I've even included a few iron chandeliers to swing from in true swashbuckler fashion.
There are a total of 13 rooms (lucky 13, right?) in varying states of quality. The cheaper rooms above share an area with a bunkmate, separated by a single wall and curtain. The other rooms are a bit more expensive, but feature balconies to look at and enjoy the beautiful sea air! (Or provide areas to sneak in for those stealthy encounters). Either way, you'll be able to accommodate your party and a variety of NPCs for your players to interact with.
Keeping with the Saltmarsh color theme I've used for the last two maps, this map comes in the following color moods:

Now that the Wicker Goat is finally complete, I will be switching gears back to the misty realm of Barovia. I've been asked many times to create a map for the added encounter from Lunch Break Heroes of The Binding of Vampyr (Which you can get for free here), which I will be working on next. While the map does not specify a specific location, it does say the ritual should be conducted near any of the three fane locations. I will be creating a more generic Svalich Woods map which you can easily slot into any of the fane areas. I will also create a variant without any of the ritual visuals (such as the salt circle and lanterns) so you can use this as a generic encounter map.
Speaking of lanterns, a big part of the binding ritual focuses on Vampry attempting to snuff out the blessed lanterns and free itself from the binding. Under no circumstances should your players allow this to happen! However, trying to create a variant map with each combination of lit lanterns would not be practical. So I've hired an artist to create custom lantern assets for me so I can provide these to you as .png files and create a lit and unlit lantern version. This will allow you to move these assets around the map and switch them out as they are lit/unlit.
Looking forward to sharing a bit of this map's progress on Sneak Peek Thursday!
Until then, thank you for all your continued support, and I'll catch up with you all Thursday.
Cheers,
DM Andy
