Sneak Peek - The Catacombs of Castle Faunel

Hey everyone, and happy Sneak Peek Thursday!

For today's sneak peek, I'm showing off one of the rooms in my next map, "The Catacombs of Castle Faunel."

This will be a 30x40 dungeon map to support the next original adventure from Lunch Break Hereos. This map will feature various areas of the catacombs below the castle, where the players will pursue the mystery of key missing royalty and villagers during a winter storm.

The dungeon will include rows of sarcophagi in a tight, narrow hallway. Some areas of the walls will display mummified bodies wrapped in burial shawls. As they progress further, an earthquake has created a large chasm and collapsed the floor, which your players will need to solve how to get across to the other side.

After which, they will enter the older section of the catacombs, which had previously been sealed, but the earthquake has collapsed the wall creating an entrance. This is a more natural cavern with sandstone archways holding the remains of the long buried. There will be a large burial room on one end, and the twisting path will converge into a shrine/ossuary (featured in the shot above). Getting through the hidden door will lead to a large cavern with holes in all of the walls all the way to the ceiling. Yellow eyes look back at your players as the creatures within awaken at their presence.

Finally, on the other end of the cave will be the living quarters of the prey your party is seeking. But will they survive to tell the tale or become more of her minions?

I'll post up the finished map on Monday, along with a few edits to an older snowy forest map to support an outdoor encounter in the adventure. Once the adventure PDF is ready, I'll include this as well to close out the month with another adventure to add to your arsenal of encounters!

Cheers,

DM Andy

That means a lot coming from you! Your room perspective maps are nowhere near what I can do! But thank you so much; even though it's a colossal amount of work, I enjoy the slight angle on the walls to show a little of the wall detail. This room is important for that since there are three distinct murals painted on each wall as part of a puzzle to open the door to the east.

When I see a newmap from you, my eyes are always instinctively drawn to your walls. There is always so much details and care in them... <3
