Hey everyone, and Happy Release Monday! Today I'm excited to bring you the final battle map for the Lunch Break Heroes adventure: The Hunger. This time we have Arak's Lair! In addition to the final battlemap, you get a PDF copy of the adventure, courtesy of Lunch Break Heroes, to our awesome Patreon community here at DM Andy Maps.

This adventure takes place in the cold, mining town of Dawnvale. This is a perfect small village to add some fun adventure to your players in your campaigns. I personally plan on using it as a stop-off point for my upcoming Grim Hollow campaign while my players are traveling from one capital city to the next.
As the players arrive, they can interact with the villagers, and it won't be long before they find out the town is plagued by swarms of flesh-eating spiders. Furthermore, they are really impacting the mining operations as they seem to swarm at night and force the miners out each night.
In addition to figuring out how to deal with the main threat, some townsfolk are not what they seem. Howling is heard from the hills at night, and it is rumored there is a pack of werewolves on the loose. There are three strange and mysterious Tieflings running the potion shop, which the town mistrusts, and some political corruption is going on. Also, the Captain of the Guard seems distracted with his new "pet," which might just be the cause of the town's woes.
Make sure you pick up the other two battlemap releases for this adventure:

This map is a 30x40 cavern/mine to showcase both Arak's Lair and the abandoned part of the lower mines.
I wanted to show hints of the miners stopping operations at the base of the mine and being pushed out by the spiders. Additionally, the adventure mentions a section that was boarded up and abandoned, which I've included to the west of the lower map. I figured this would be a good entry point for your players should they enter the mines through the underground level of the Dawnvale map. I also wanted to really focus on both the height of the walls, and the copper veins shining through, and add some depth as well.
For Arak's lair, I wanted this part of the mine to feel very wide, tall, and looming. With the massive webbing to the north, I wanted this to be the focal point of Arak, where he sucks the innards from the victims who are unfortunate enough to enter here. I also added some larger natural pillars and alcoves to give both cover for your players during the fight and also areas for Arak to hide behind from your ranged players. It should prove a challenging fight for sure!
Of course, I fully understand some folks may have an aversion to our 8-legged friends, and as such, each version of this map was also created without webbings. This way, you can use the mine/lair for any monster you choose!
In addition to the web and no-web variants, I've created a few different "moods" so you can use what fits your game best.
Normal: Focused on color vibrance and a good level of brightness
Bright: While mines may be dark, your VTT doesn't have to be. This ramps up the brightness and colors so you can better control any lighting effects you might be using with your VTT
Ghostly: If you want to capture a haunting ghostly vibe, the greens on this map really add to that spooky flavor
Gloom: My traditional Dark Fantasy vibe. It's gloomy, grey, shadowy, and just all-around creepy!
Warm: This map focuses on warmer tones for a more earthy and natural feel. You can almost feel the dust in the air as your players delve deeper into the earth.
For my Champion Tier Patrons, you get the following with this map release:

Well, first and foremost, I have officially started on my first Ghosts of Saltmarsh map! I thought starting off with a parchment version of the town of Saltmarsh would be a great jumping-off point, and I'm hoping to have this finished by next week.
For my Dark Fantasy group, fear not! I will be working on some remakes of the Amber Temple this month in addition to the next spooky LBH adventure toward the end of the month. My Amber Temple goals are 1) To create a 2nd-floor version of the "lived-in" Amber Temple from the Interactive Tome of Strahd Map and then create a V2.0 of the current module version of the Amber Temple.
In the near future (most likely next month), I'll also be working on the final maps of the Interactive Tome of Strahd along with the special dungeon Pyram King and I are working on, The Pillars of Ravenloft, which will provide an alternative dungeon crawl entrance to the catacombs of Ravenloft.
I have so much in the queue I wish I could do it all this month! But the good news is I have a slew of projects queued up for you all to enjoy in the next coming months.
Thanks as always for your support, and I'll catch up with you Thursday for my Sneak Peek.
Cheers,
DM Andy
