Hello everyone and happy Sneak Peek Thursday! Today, I'm really excited to showcase one of my favorite rooms from the next map: The Rooms of Weeping! This map will be released on Monday, Nov 7th.
Though the Castle is taking me a bit (a lot) longer than I had anticipated, I'm very happy with the level of detail I've been able to pour into each room. It has and always will be important to me to favor detail over speed of production and I think you'll see that really come into play with this sneak peek.
Here, we transport your players to the very study of the vampire lord himself. The blazing hearth casting a firey reflection on the huge painting of the love that he can never have. Surrounded by over 1,000 tomes and scrolls of magic and arcane, he sips crimson blood for a wine glass while staring at the portrait. "Tatyana...I have crossed oceans of time to be with you. I will not fail again.." (Can anyone guess what movie inspired that line??)
I really wanted the focus of this room to be on the color and the light. The crimson red on the couches and carpet to signify the blood. The portrait of a beautiful woman with auburn colored hair, a dress of white to signify purity and innocense. The mirroed surface of the table, in pristine condition compared to the rest of the delapitated castle, showing the reflection of the portrait. The blazing hearth, a roaring fire to represent the Counts anger and hatred. And the looming bookshelves which house over 1,000 books, like sentinals silently watching his turmoil. I (roughly) counted and if you consider the cabinets below the bookshelves to house even more books, it is very feasable that over 1,000 books could be stored here.
Hope you enjoy and I'll have the full map released on Monday!
Cheers,
DM Andy
