Jan 2022 Updates

Hey everyone! I feel like it has been a while since my last update post so I thought I would ramble a bit at at where I'll be headed in 2022.

First off, I want to express my utmost gratitude for your support and engagement. As a content creator, seeing your comments and engagement with my maps is so inspirational. I truly do love hearing your stories and seeing what amazing things you are able to do with the maps I make. I'm sure if you follow a number of other content creators you've all heard the obligatory "thanks for your support" post, which I sometimes fear might water down the impact and truth behind it. But that's not going to stop me from saying it over and over again. I am both honored and humbled by your continued support and I love seeing our community grow! I hope I can continue to produce maps you find both compelling and useful.

Curse of Strahd Updates

In the last year I've come a long way mapping out all of Curse of Strahd. It was about a year ago, as I was making maps for my own game, I realized the need for not only maps that were missing, but consistency over the look and feel of maps. This is why I went down the long road of mapping out all things Curse of Strahd. Here is what is on the 2022 roadmap (in no particular order):

Wizard of Wines

Yester Hill

Argynvostholt

Berez

Krezk

Vallaki

Castle Ravenloft

The Mad Mage

The Interactive Tome of Strahd

Other Fan-made content

Large Scale City Maps

I'd like to tackle making larger scale city maps for CoS. My recent map post of the city of Altenheim from Grim Hollow inspired me to use a slightly different art style. I might make these maps for Barovia soon! I will rely on this community to tell me which art style you all prefer and we'll see how the reception is once these are made.

So there you have it! Even though I am almost done with the core maps, there are still tons of additional maps to make.

Additionally, once I'm done with the list above, I plan on re-doing my older maps in a 2.0 version. Mostly because I feel I've improved my map making skills and really want to tackle the older maps again.

Other Projects

Outside of Curse of Strahd, I have been working with other content creators such as Lunch Break Heroes & Pyraim King and have been very honored to be asked to make maps for custom and original content. I love that LBH is keeping with the grim dark feel and I have enjoyed working on these maps for their channel! You can expect to see more original LBH adventures and maps made by me in the future and of course my continued journey along with Pyram King's amazing content.

Other Campaign Settings

As you have seen from my last post, I plan on tackling the Grim Hollow setting from Ghostfire  Gaming (maybe I'll even get their attention to make maps for them!). This is a campaign I will personally be running for my home game and this provides tons of map opportunities. Even if you are not using this campaign setting, I feel these maps will work great for generic grim dark themed maps.

I would like to also tackle other modules as well such as the Lost Mines of Phandelver, Lost Kings Thunder, Rime of the Frostmaiden, Wild Beyond the Witchlight, etc.

Closing Thoughts

As you can see, I will be busy for some time to come. I hope you will continue to join me on this journey. I encourage you all to post below with anything I might have missed or other maps you'd like to see! I want you all to be an active part of this map making journey and I'm excited for what the future holds.

Cheers,

DM Andy

Thanks so much! I just started working on Chapter 3 for the Tome of Strahd last night so hoping to get that out soon. Hopefully I can have Baba's Magical Realm done by the time your players get there. I've also taken inspiration from that awesome idea and tweaking it for my own game where Baba traps the players in her magical realm and forces them to be marionets in a twisted play acting out her delusions. Based on the player actions (and how well they act!) they could impress her or they could be tormented for their failures. The strings of the marionet may or may not be the vines of a few body taker plants and the "audience" might just be illusionary scarecrows :P (Also, there is a creepy doll stage director that keeps the show running made by none other than Blinsky and animated with Baba's magic). If it goes well in my game, I might write that up and create a map for it as well :)

Andy D'Amato

I'm really, really looking forward to Baba's Magical Realm. While my players are nowhere near Berez yet, I'm hoping to surprise them with the town seemingly in its prime. And of course, I'm really loving your Tome of Strahd maps!

Lucerine

Fantastic!! Feel free to share any of your experiences here :)

Andy D'Amato

Thank you Andy. I am loving your work. Have just started Curse of Strahd and looking forward to giving the experience of your maps to my players.

I had not thought about Darkon maps but I will certainly look into it! I need to play around with Foundry some more and really learn the ropes. It's been on my to-do list I've just been so busy! But I've heard amazing things about the new lighting system.

Andy D'Amato

What I wouldn't do for some Darkon maps right now XD. Great work. Been loving these maps in my Strahd 2.0 refresh. They look extra beautiful with Foundry's new lighting system.

Robert Strick

Thanks JM! You've always been such a great supporter and I really thank all of your engagement and the work you've done for the translations. I'll be updating my Weeping Meadow map with your translation here in a bit.

Andy D'Amato

I'm looking forward to making them! It's going to be a busy 2022 for me haha

Andy D'Amato

Such a huge and amazing program Andy ! Tome of Strahd is a great idea too !

JM Tixu78

That's the goal! I want to be able to provide a one-stop shop for all things CoS related so DMs can have a full range of maps that all have a similar look / feel to them.

Andy D'Amato

I was actually working on the chapter 1 map last night. I was wrestling with the best way to handle it, and ultimately decided to put it all on one single 40x40 map. Each section will take up 1/4 of the map (War tent, woods, road to the manor, farm village) so that if your players decide to split up, you don't have to toggle different maps.

Andy D'Amato

Wow, this sounds incredibly ambitious and i am looking forward to all of these maps!!!

pixi

yeah man, you're going to be the reference for COS !

Niko Tackian

Awesome to hear you’re going to be doing some things from the Interactive Tome!
