Champion Tier - Road to the Abbey - 40x30

Happy Monday everyone! I've created a map for the switchback road leading up to the Abbey. It grows colder and colder as you head to the looming Abbey above the tiny rustic town below. Who knows what dangers await your players as they make their way? 

For my patrons, I have created this map in the following variants:

How I used this in my game Curse of Strahd game: My party had a few interactions with the Abbot and were pretty creeped out by him needless to say. I used the Lunch Break Heroes quest of him requesting a face from the party to complete his "bride". Let's just say no one was willing to provide a face. The party left and dealt with the werewolf situation and upon returning, they felt the need to liberate all threats from the people of Krezk. They were convinced the Abbot was working with Strahd and so marched up to the Abbey to demand he leave. As you can imagine, the Abbot lost control and accused them of working against the Morning Lord's vision and as such, the people of Barovia (twisted logic and all). He called out to "Viktor" (who I named the other golem) to "free his children as these villain's were here to cause harm to them" (meaning the Mongrelfolk). At this point, chaos ensued. 

Before the party ascended up the road to the Abbey, they informed the town guards to be ready for "whatever might happen" and so they set up some barricades around the base of the hill. After the battle with the Abbot, they heard the sounds of battle coming from the road so they ran back down only to have to fight their way through hordes of insane mongrelfolk before they broke through the guards defenses and went on a rampage in Krezk. Most of the guards perished as they were grossly outnumbered and the party rushed on to a now burning Krezk (in the chaos a few dropped torches from fleeing villagers ignited some brush and thatched roofs and before you know it, multiple buildings were on fire). The remaining Mongrelfolk fled Krezk while the party now had to save the burning village. It. Was. Insane. 

The road map really helped for a battle like this! Anyway, I hope this was inspirational to your game, or at least amusing to read. I would love to hear how you plan to use this in your games! Hope you enjoy.

Thanks! It made for a very shallow victory for my players as the Abbot was simply trying to protect his flock in a backwards twisted way. The violin made the moment tense yet sad in its own right.

That sounds like a hell of a session. I really love the idea of just playing violin solos while Clovin performs from above - I might have to borrow that for my own game!
