July 2021: Current Progress & Map Updates
Added 2021-07-07 16:48:34 +0000 UTC
Greetings all! Once again, I would like to thank everyone for their amazing support. It has been such an incredible journey to create maps for everything Curse of Strahd and I'm loving it! I've made good progress on the module but there is still so much more to go.
I'm a firm believer in clear and open communication so I like to make these update posts often so you know what is in the pipeline and planning phases. So here goes!
Maps
As I'm sure you noticed, I'm knee deep in Vallaki. Being the second largest section in all the module it's no wonder there are so many potential map locations for it! City maps also take me much longer as I often have many buildings and I always do interior along with exterior. I just released the Arasek Stockyard and I have the Coffin Maker's shop on deck for the next release. Just putting in some finishing touches on it!
After the Coffin Maker's shop, I have been tinkering with a new location I call "The slums of Vallaki". Even though this is not called out in the module, I feel like every large town must have a slums area where the less fortunate live. Barovia seems to be no exception to the large class gap in the wealthy and the not-so-wealthy. This map will include many smaller homes, run down, some ruined, muddy ground with encampments and make-shift shelters built into building ruins. I am also featuring Bluto's home here as well! I know some content creators feature events where players might find clues in or around Bluto's home and I wanted a map that was teeming with potential encounter ideas.
After this, I plan on hitting some key locations already covered in the book such as:
- Blue Water Inn
- Burgomaster's Mansion
- Wachterhaus
- Vistani Camp
Additionally, I plan on hitting two new locations added by the very popular Reddit author MandyMod which are the Orphanage of St. Andral and the Reformation Center. I have some other locations I've mentioned before (alleyways, brothel, etc.) but for now I think this will cover most of the key locations you will all need for your games. I don't want to be stuck in Vallaki too long as I know not everyone here is at that stage of their game.
With that said...
Beyond Vallaki
Once I am happy with the core of Vallaki I plan on shifting gears to other locations I have not hit yet. These are in no particular order but this is what is on my road map for future releases:
- Krezk (Gate, Streets of Krezk featuring the Burgomaster's Home, Pool & Shrine, Road to the Abbey, and the Abbey itself)
- Werewolf Den. I also plan on creating additional forests maps and cave maps. I know there are some popular mods out there that add additional werewolves and I want to make sure you have plenty of cave / forest encounters.
- Generic Locations. Roads.. lot's of roads! I want to create a series of generic maps that you can use all around Barovia for roads, forests, bridges, swamps, etc.
- Wizard of Wines. I plan on re-doing the Wizard of Wines (I am planning on making this a large map so I can add lot's of vineyards around the area). I also planned on creating a smashed version, just in case the druids succeed with their plans!
- Yester Hill. I already have the Gulthias Tree map, but would like to do maps for the actually hill and the druid ritual area.
- Berez. It is mostly done but I have a few locations left such as the Goat pens, Burgomaster's Mansion and Overgrown gardens.
- Castle Ravenloft. This one is going to be a beast! (But super fun!). I might chunk this one out in between other maps and start with areas such as the gate, main entrance and the dinner area.
- Mt. Baratok and the Mad Mage. I will be taking a lot of creative liberty with this one given there is not much in the module to work off of. I am working on a twisted mansion encounter with my own group I hope to write up and publish along with a series of maps for the Mad Mage if you wanted to use it.
- Argynvostholt. Will most likely include a "road to Argynvostholt" as I feel it would be fun to have a long, twisting pass up the hill where the fortress resides.
So there you have it! Of course I am open to feedback and other suggestions of popular mods you might have seen from amazing content creators.
Speaking of amazing content creators..
Collaboration with Pyram King
As some of you may have noticed, content creator Pyram King and I have been collaborating together. He has been using my maps for his amazing content videos for Curse of Strahd. I know personally, when I re-run the module I plan on using a lot of his stuff. he's also really good using Foundry so if you're using my maps with Foundry VTT, he provides some great resource videos. If you have not seen it, check out his YouTube channel here!
And that's it! I know I wrote a lot, but like I said, I love being transparent and communicative with my amazing patrons. I truly appreciate your support and feedback! Should you have any other locations or ideas from content creations out there you'd like to see, let me know in the comments.
Cheers,
DM Andy

2021-07-07 19:23:49 +0000 UTCYour Berez map on Reddit led me here, lol. Yes, I was hoping maps of all of Vallaki, Krezk and the Village of Barovia. I like having a city map to give my players for reference.

2021-07-07 18:10:34 +0000 UTCThanks so much Clayton! Do you mean creating maps of all of Vallaki or all of The Village of Barovia for instance? If so, that's not a bad idea. I have been focused on the close up battle maps, but I could certainly try my hand at creating larger scale maps. So far I've only done the larger scale map of Berez. I'll certainly add this to my roadmap!
