She could easily hide on her own, but with the new PubSec tech doing full body scans, it's risky if she didn't manage to hide deep enough.
That's why she hacked into the government database to get New Eridu's dick size rate (yes, the CIA has that info about everybody) and realized only thirens had the depth she was looking for.
After that, she realized what Nicole meant when talking about how thirens were uncommonly freaky compared to regular guys. Or perhaps she got her "furry awakening", as some people say.
