Update and possible rewards changes

 Hey there everyone.

First off again I want to thank all of you for all of the support you've been showing me over these last couple of years. I know I say this a lot but I really honestly can't put into words how much it means that I've gotten so much support from you all here on patreon. I honestly never expected to even get a fourth of the monetary support I've been getting much less the actual moral support on top of it all so again thank all of you so so much.

I know things have been just a little bit sparse the last few months and I do apologize about that life is finally starting to calm down a little bit and I feel like I'm finally getting into a place where I can slowly rebuild back to Some semblance of the productivity that I had last year and the beginning of this year. However on that note I've been giving this a lot of thought and I think I am probably going to have to make a few changes.

I will make another post detailing out the specifics when I finally nail them down but I probably will be redoing my patreon tiers and what they offer starting next month. it's mostly the $10 + $25 tier that I'm probably going to have to rework a bit. As much as I love having an easier option to give you guys reward stories for all of your support especially with how inconsistent my ability to write has been the last few months part of me doesn't feel like it's fair how long some of you might have to wait for a reward story. Or on top of that how others might have to wait months to save up enough rewards to get a full story if they don't want to use their fewer rewards as a discount for a full commission.

On top of that I'm trying to have more value in my writing as I try to be more productive while also adjusting my prices to more what I think my content is worth and I don't want to keep nickle and diming everyone every time i update my prices and have to make sure I'm not just making it so people need to take a roundabout way to get a discount.

So if you all have any ideas or suggestions I'd love to hear them because the last thing i want is for anyone to think that I'm trying to cheat them or that I'm not appreciative of all the support that I've been given so far.

So far here are my tentative thoughts on some of the changes I was going to make.

the $1 tier will stay the same as a 'tip' jar basically.

the $2 i am considering raising it to $3 instead. but otherwise will stay the same. Will be the 'main' tier to give access to early stories and patreon exclusive stories.

the $5 tier i also planned to leave alone. I was toying with the idea of letting the $3 only see stories early and make the $5 tier the minimum tier needed to see patreon exclusive content but I'm afraid that might be too steep a price. I'd hoped that the other changes would allow me to start producing more content and make that level more worthwhile but I'm unsure. I'd really like some feedback on that if you all have thoughts.

the $10 and $25 tiers would be the biggest changes. Basically I'm planning to get rid of the Dragon Dollar system. You will still get early commission access at both of these tiers but there will no longer be a 'free' story reward attached to them. What I'm thinking of is maybe a flat discount rate for anyone at those tiers wanting commissions. Again I'm still playing with numbers here but what i was thinking was something like

$10: 20% discount on the first 5,000 words of any commission. Standard rate applies above 5,000 words

$25: 30% discount on the first 5,000 words of any commission  Standard rate applies above 5,000 words

That way I can still offer value to people willing to support me at higher levels while still not feeling like I'm devaluing my own work too much. Also since those tiers would get early commission access I feel like it would be a good way to not have people able to easily just join up on my patreon right when i open for commissions to snipe an easy discount since only people already subscribed to those tiers will know when they're coming. As I don't think I'll honor discounts of people that just signed up on my patreon right at the time I opened for commissions.

So, those are my thoughts. these changes are NOT set in stone and subject to lots of change and I will give ample notification before any official changes are made. I might even delay an extra month and not make any changes till November so no one feels like I'm trying to pull a fast one on them.

And those of you that have Dragon dollars, even if its only 1 or 2 when these changes are made I will still find a way to compensate you for those even if you don't want to get a full commission and use them as a discount. I'm not going to leave anyone that supported me hanging If i can help it

But yes

Please, any feedback you all are willing to give would be GREATLY appreciated. Again I'm trying to find the best way to value myself as a writer while still giving back to you all who are willing to support me. Thank you all so much again for your time and energy <3

I like the discount idea, especially the "x% off the first y words". That uses the classic sales technique of "use discounts to get them in the front door" back from when retail was still a thing. :-)

I think the discount idea sounds interesting! Personally I prefer the Dragon Dollars but that might be experience bias talking. I plan to support you and your fine writing either way! I would say that the $5 tier isn't very steep at all and that it sounds like a reasonable price for patreon exclusive content. Having the $1 be a tip jar and the $3 be early access to non-eclusive stories seems like a good ramp of options. The only issue I can really see is that the $25 tier doesn't present an incentive for patrons to upgrade. The extra 10% / $15 off is a nice bonus, but unless you expect to open patron commissions monthly it might deter people from wanting those spots in favor of the $10 tier.

Having $3 for early content and $5 for exclusives is probably okay, but I can understand where you're coming from And I'd say that the percentage discount in place of the Dragon Dollars system should work
