Races of Corinto: Binnenoun PT1

Along the Jorvamund Mountain Range, an imposing wall rises, protecting the rich and prosperous lands of Florengard. This structure is said to have been built by a race of Titan ladies from the frozen continent of Grikerato. Now, those great walls are guarded and maintained by the Binnenoun, a race of ursine women, descendants of those Titans, whose race is near extinction.

Orígins.

During the dawn of the First Age, the Titan ladies migrated from Grikerato, as the valley that held this region between its mountains had become an icy, uninhabitable wasteland. Their journey took them across the Gray Neck, where they eventually encountered the Etruskerans, a primitive Equ'fera people. At first, the two races coexisted without any hostility. But from the shadows, the unicorns, the Equ'fera caste that dominated magic, sowed the apathy and suspicion their people felt toward the Titan ladies, culminating in a terrible conflict between the two peoples in which the Etruskerans emerged victorious due to their war tactics, but above all, because of their use of magic, which proved decisive in the conflict.

This situation caught the Etruskerans off guard, and they found themselves overwhelmed by the new powers of the Titan ladies. They unleashed all their fury on their captors. However, they decided that their retaliation would not extend to enslaving those beings, since they had abandoned Grykerato to seek an even more beautiful land. Thus, their attack was carried out solely to free those Titans who had been enslaved by the Etruskerans.

The unicorns were determined not to let this affront to their power pass, and they decided to hunt down the Titan ladies wherever they went, but due to the difference in size, the distance the Titan ladies put between themselves and their pursuers increased with each passing day. Thus it was that finally their steps led them to the Jorvamund range, whose mountains were high and steep, and knowing that the resentment of their pursuers was inexhaustible, they decided to strengthen the access points by building walls of vast stone and there they waited.

There are many legends surrounding the Battle of Jorvamund, but the consensus is that the Etruskerans lost overwhelmingly and that, in his fury, the arch-unicorn Trinias cast one last spell, which he was unable to complete because he was crushed by a huge rock thrown by a Titaness from above, while his troops fled in terror.

After that, the titan ladies discovered that the land behind those deadly mountains was a paradise, and so they decided to protect it by building the great wall that stretches along the Jorvamund mountain range to this day.

Ancient History.

Most of the Titan ladies established their residence in the mountain ranges located in the center of Florengard, perhaps because they felt a sense of security similar to that of Jorvamund. There, they built great castles that rose to the heavens, and that place would become known as Jothenheim, the home of the Titans.

The Titans who did not follow this path scattered throughout Florengard, and for unknown reasons, the new generations arriving into the world began to shrink in stature, which after a long time gave rise to the Binnenoun and Binnetor, the latter being a variant of the race. They were popularly known as "giants."

Due to their long-lived nature, the Titan ladies didn't keep records of their history, or at least not as long as the common races did. Because of this, the Binnenoun remained unaware of their true origins until much later. Thus, each region of Florengard acquired its own cultural identity, which eventually led to long-standing conflicts between the continent's civilizations.

The Titan ladies gradually disappeared until less than a dozen remained. By this time, Florengard was already populated by numerous peoples established in their different territories and constantly warring for supremacy. Despite their shared origins, the differences among these people stemmed from their fervent belief that only one of them descended from a single supreme deity who should rule over all creation.

This panorama changed drastically with the arrival of Hereldein Banraight, who proclaimed herself a direct daughter of the goddess Cayleth, and under that motto began to conquer all the territories of Florengard. Hereldein achieved this feat due to her extraordinary strength, which was equivalent to that of a titan lady contained in an average body of her race. In addition to this strength, she was also invulnerable to any harm; there was no poison capable of taking her life, no blade that could cut her skin, no weapon that could break her bones, and neither cold nor heat had the power to make a dent in her body.

Every time Hereldein conquered a territory, she would get rid of the leader and take her husband to conceive a daughter, thus breaking the taboo against mixing attributes that was deeply rooted in the society of those times. Furthermore, each daughter would serve as ruler in her mother's name over their respective regions when they were old enough.

Despite what one might believe, Queen Hereldein did not exercise her power with tyranny, but rather sought to unite the peoples under her rule through cultural exchange. One of the most notable achievements was the writing of the Havardrú, a compilation of sacred texts in which all the deities of Florengard shared a family history, thus canonizing them within the Binnenoun pantheon, and causing their respective cults to spread to places their worshippers had never thought possible.

A lo largo de la cadena de montañas de Jorvamund, se alza una imponente muralla que resguarda las ricas y prosperas tierras de Florengard. Se dice que esta edificación fue construida por una raza de mujeres titanes provenientes de Grikerato, el continente helado. Ahora, aquellos grandes muros son resguardados y mantenidos por las Binnenoun, una raza de mujeres ursinas, y descendientes de aquellas titánides, cuya raza esta próxima a desaparecer.

Orígenes.

Durante los albores de la primera edad, las damas titánides emigraron de Grikerato, debido a que el valle que guardaba esta región entre sus montañas termino convirtiéndose en un páramo helado e inhabitable. Su viaje las hizo cruzar el cuello gris, donde eventualmente se encontraron con los Etruskeros, quienes eran un pueblo de Equ´fera primitivos. En un principio, las dos razas coexistieron sin que ninguna hostilidad aflorara entre ambos. Pero desde las sombras, los unicornios, que eran la casta de los Equ´fera que dominaba la magia, sembraron la desidia y el recelo que su gente sentían hacia las damas titánides, culminando en un terrible conflicto entre ambos pueblos en el que los Etruskerosse alzaron victoriosos debido a sus tácticas de guerra, pero por sobre todo por el uso de la magia que fue decisivo en la contienda.

Esta situación tomo desprevenidos a los Etruskeros, quienes se vieron rebasados por los nuevos poderes de las damas titánides, quienes volcaron toda su furia sobre sus captores, no obstante, decidieron que su represalia no se extendería a esclavizar a aquellos seres, puesto que habían abandonado Grikerato para buscar una tierra aun mas bella. De tal manera que su ataque solo fue efectuado en pos de liberar a aquellas titánides que habían sido esclavizadas por los Etruskeros.

Los unicornios estaban decididos a no dejar pasar esta afrenta su poder, y decidieron dar caza a las damas titánides allá donde fueran, pero debido a la diferencia de tamaño, la distancia que pusieron las titánides entre ellas y sus perseguidores se acrecentó con cada día que pasaba. De esta manera fue que finalmente sus pasos las llevaron a la cadena de Jorvamund, cuyas montañas eran altas y escarpadas, y sabiendo que el rencor de sus perseguidores era inagotable, decidieron fortalecer los puntos de acceso construyendo muros de piedra vasta y ahí aguardaron.

Existen muchas leyendas en torno a la batalla de Jorvamund, pero el consenso es que los Etruskerosperdieron aplastantemente y que, en su furia, el archi unicornio Trinias lanzo un último hechizo que no pudo concluir porque fue aplastado por una enorme roca que una titán arrojo desde las alturas, mientras sus tropas huían despavoridas.

Después de eso, las damas titánides descubrieron que la tierra que habían detrás de aquellas mortales montañas, eran un paraíso y por ello decidieron protegerlas construyendo la gran muralla que se extiende a lo largo de la cadena de Jorvamund hasta el día de hoy.

Historia Antigua.

La mayoría de las damas titánides establecieron su residencia en las cadenas montañosas que se ubican al centro de Florengard, quizás por que estas les brindaron una seguridad similar a la que sintieron en Jorvamund. Ahí, construyeron grandes castillos que se alzaban hacia los cielos y aquel lugar se conocería como Jothenheim, el hogar de las titánides.

Las titánides que no siguieron este sendero, se esparcieron por todo el territorio de Florengard, y debido a razones desconocidas, las nuevas generaciones que llegaban al mundo comenzaron a reducir su estatura, que después de mucho tiempo dieron origen a las Binnenoun y Binnetor, siendo estas últimas una variante de la raza. Y fueron conocidas popularmente como “gigantes”.

Debido a su naturaleza longeva, las damas titánides no llevaron registro de su historia, o al menos no tanto como lo hacen las razas comunes. Debido a esta situación, las binnenoun desconocieron su verdadero origen hasta mucho tiempo después. De tal manera, fue que cada región de Florengard adquirió su propia identidad cultural, lo que eventualmente llevo a largos enfrentamientos entre las civilizaciones del continente.

Las damas titánides fueron desapareciendo gradualmente hasta que tan solo quedaron menos de una decena, en este tiempo Florengard ya estaba bastante poblado por numerosos pueblos establecidos en sus diferentes territorios y guerreaban constantemente por la supremacía del mismo. Pese a su origen compartido, las diferencias de estos pueblos devenían de su ferviente creencia de que solo uno de estos, descendía de una única deidad suprema que debía gobernar sobre toda la creación.

Este panorama cambió drásticamente con la llegada de Hereldein Banraight, quien se proclamó hija directa de la diosa Cayleth, y bajo esa consigna comenzó a conquistar todos los territorios de Florengard. Hereldein logro esta proeza debido a su fuerza extraordinaria, que era equivalente a la de una dama titán contenida en un cuerpo promedio en su raza. Además de esta fuerza, también era invulnerable cualquier daño, no había veneno capaz de arrebatarle la vida, ni filo que pudiese cortar su piel, ni arma que pudiese quebrar sus huesos, y el tanto el frio como el calor no tenían potestad para hacer mella sobre su cuerpo.

Cada vez que Hereldein conquistaba un territorio, se deshacía de la líder y tomaba a su esposo para engendrar a una niña, rompiendo así el tabú de la mezcla de atributos que estaba muy arraigado en la sociedad de aquellos tiempos, además de que cada hija, fungiría como gobernante en nombre de su madre de sus respectivas regiones cuando tuviesen la edad suficiente.

Pese a lo que se pueda creer, la reina Hereldein no ejerció su poder con tiranía, sino que procuro que los pueblos bajo su dominio se hermanaran mediante el intercambio cultural, siendo uno de los mas notables la escritura del Havardrú, una compilación de textos sagrados donde todas las deidades de Florengard compartían una historia familiar, canonizándoles así dentro del panteón Binnenoun, y haciendo que sus respectivos cultos se extendieran allá donde sus adoradoras nunca creyeron llegar.
