some rendering practice! it's been a little while since i went for something in this style. it feels nice to do a big piece of my ocs like this!
i wanted to try something a little more painterly, but went about using marker, pencil, and dry gouache style brushes instead of your usual wet-ish digital painting brushes. i think more manual blending is more comfortable to me, rather than brushes that mix and spead the colors on the canvas
fun fact, i've always really enjoyed painting digitally but i got a little turned off from it several years ago by the fact that i would spend a long time on it only to get the same amount of praise (in some cases less) for it as a flat drawing or doodle that look hours less of my time and much less effort. it made me sour on the enjoyment and love i felt for my own pieces. it's a bad way to view art but i grew out of that a few years ago, and just never got around to painting again, at least not much. it's really relaxing tho..
