Camera Obscura
Added 2022-09-24 00:04:10 +0000 UTCThese were captured on Thursday for a Camera Obscura series I’m working on with photographer Albert Comper. That is Melbourne city projected onto me through a tiny lens hole in an otherwise totally blackened room. The word “camera” comes from Latin meaning “room” and “Obscura” meaning “dark”. This technique has been around since the 1500s and was used to study eclipses without damaging one’s eyes, as well tracing accurate representations of scapes for art purposes and later in the 1800s the technique played a pivotal role in photography.
