I agree with you. Like the Lord of the Rings, this story is one that has either changed or reaffirmed the way I think about life in general. Those types of stories stay with you in a way that leave marks on your soul. Having read the books multiple times, I agree that 16 episodes was what was needed to tell this story and give it space to breathe. This series could have gone at least two extra episodes and told Prik's love story and the tale of Anin keeping her promise, taking Pin, Prik and little Alin to England on holiday. As Southerners say, everyone dipped their toe in this production. It means that everyone involved seemed to go above and beyond to make this series as top notch as possible, and they most definitely succeeded. The writers who adapted the novel knew how to get out of the novel's way and let it tell the story, while throwing in their own hints of flavor and modern sensibilities. Anin's declaration of love to Patt and her mom was taken straight from the novel and I'm glad they kept that in the adaptation. Also, the monologue she gave to her dad was also partially taken from the novel as well. Seeing it in live action so to speak, gave the words so much more weight and gravitas. So much so, that I still got emotional even though I knew it was coming. Top notch production from top to bottom. For me, TLP is the standard that all GLs should follow in terms of allowing enough episodes to let a story be told well. Great reaction as always.

i agree with your ending point. best told gl imo. i think blank is the only one that comes close as far as the character progression and growth. some of the other gls are good but idk if they left me with the same feeling of this is well told and not rushed as those 2 did. I didn't feel like there were so many holes in the story as some of the others. Pluto is another honorable mention imo. The other stories i needed to read the books to fill in the blanks. And with those shows i mentions i didn't need to i wanted to read them.

I actually didn't think the show was slow paced at all. I especially loved the pacing of the first half of the series and how they didn't drag out their time apart over many episodes. My only tiny critique is that there felt like a lot of filler in the 2nd half. Not quite sure it needed 16 episodes but overall it was still a beautiful production that's gonna be hard to top. I shudder to think how this could've turned out in the hands of a company with less resources or capable actors. As far as the many upcoming gl's nothing's really piqued my interest so far except for one. You may have already watched the pilot but if not I wanna suggest Clairebell. That's the only one right now that I'm actively anticipating and I'm really hoping it doesn't disappoint so I can watch reactions to it when it comes out. I really enjoyed watching this with you tho! Ps- I feel like affair suffered from more than just episode constraints unfortunately. The girls are great, amazing chemistry. I just hope their company goes with a different director and scriptwriters next time and definitely fire whoever chose to pair those amazing love scenes with that jarring uptempo thriller music that just felt so out of place. Still mad about that.
