I do think this program still qualifies as a survival show, but, indeed, it shares that same key element as the Nizi Project: no audience voting. I love TWICE but the worst survival show I've seen is SIXTEEN largely because JYP (the person) could not stand having the audience voting get in the way of his decisions. And the Nizi Project gives him sole power and you have much the same result as here: a focus on the working with the talent to assess their strengths and build the best team you can. (Thus, JYP has the wierd honor of having produced both my favorite and least favorite survival show.) (Frogive my wanting to comment on each of these - I know these comments do nothing for you as the ones on Youtube do. But I love encouraging you when you cover my favorite shows here.)

2025-07-24 02:08:17 +0000 UTCYeah, there is such a stark contrast between this and the survival shows that we're used to. There's no grand stages, just simple rooms with a few cameras in there, and they don't have to convince third parties (the audience) to vote for any one auditionee, so it feels like a much more grounded and authentic experience for everyone. Love how they were not looking for perfection from the get-go. They saw potential, and seeing the girls in these early stages and seeing where Hana is now, Chanmina and Sky-hi must be quite happy with their growth.

2025-05-11 13:09:12 +0000 UTCThe difference with korean survival shows is baffling and refreshing for sure... no dramatic edits of voice cracking on a loop or the judges making bad faces when the girls didn't hit the notes perfectly... we just have supportive mentors! Also the fact that we actually hear their voices during the performances, no embellishments, it's just raw talent.
