I am preparing another quick follow up on logistics and supply as it seems to be a topic people enjoy. The next video will examine some of the threats posed to armies. Above you can see a preview of some graphics I've prepared to show different types of army with their access to food and water. The Roman army on the far left has high food and high water. This is due to two stacked bars. One bar represents supplies gathered locally and the other represents supplies sent to the army. To the right of the Romans is another professional army with an organized support system such as the Hellenic Kingdoms. This army is also able to take advantage of logistics but to a slightly lower degree than the legions at their apex. To the right of that is a typical tribal army. They generally lacked sophisticated logistical systems and therefore have access to less supplies. Finally on the far right I showed a mounted force such as a steppe army. In most cases they would be nomadic or semi-nomadic and therefore not rely on a logistical system coming from some base. Instead they get a boost to their base food supplies due to their adaptation to living on the move and their ability to forage over a wider area due to their increased speed. I have however marked them down slightly when it comes to water since the additional horses would need to drink a lot.
Anyways this is just a small bit of generalized information that will factor in to the upcoming video discussion. Hope you enjoy.
