the reason no one really picks up theyre 'suddenly busy' or catches them is because everyones busy obvi, and Portia and Edwin keep to their own a lot, for different reasons.
Portia loves herself, obviously... but she doesn't love her homelife, and her friends realize she never actually talks about herself. No one knows she actually worked on her aunts farm as a kid for pocket money, no one knows JUST how sick her dad is, or that she's struggling so hard all the time because she believes thats her own problems, it's her job to deal with it, so when it comes up, she expertly changes the subject. She loves to talk, but is usually only the things she deems shareable, nothing too personal. She also is GREAT at making people feel good about themselves (when she likes them) so she often will just ask about the other person and like KNOWS so much about her friends while they realize after she admits shes dating the guy that was her greatest enemy... Dating Edwin makes her HAVE to open up and accept help, and stop being so proud about it. She HATES asking for help and struggles with it a lot... edwin's love language is acts of service aka helping, so they quickly fight about it during their fwb time because she always sees people doing nice things for her as an exchange, they want something. He doesn't want anything other than for her to drink her damn coffee.
Edwin is similar, afraid to be open out of fear of being made fun of or ridiculed. Portia's afraid of being let down per usual, hes afraid of not being enough... AND IT ALL COMES TOGeTHER
