When they first started seeing each other, secret fuck buddies, Portia still had her roster of ‘friends’ aka sugar daddy situations or a fashion blog she’d update with requests on the highest payer. She decides to tantalize/torture Edwin and pay her bills. He’s pretty nosy and asks pretty bluntly what the deal is, which she explains. He also not so tactfully asks if she’s also sleeping with them, she makes fun of him for being jealous before saying they don’t pay her enough for that, and she does it to help with bills. Edwin let’s slip that maybe if she had a boyfriend she wouldn’t have to… she says she enjoys it, boyfriends expect more than what they give, and he can either help her and be rewarded or miss out on the fun.

Portia is eventually with him most of the time, and has less time/desire to hustle. He brings it up next time that it’s been a while since she’s needed his help. She hesitantly admits that it’s because she is too busy… She also admits she hasn’t been seeing anyone at all since before they started things because ‘it’s too complicated’ and ‘I’m taking a break from dating’. He is aware his infatuation/love might be a problem, but now he starts picking up it’s reciprocated… he admits he also isn’t seeing anyone else because he just wants to make time for her, and she is like ‘moron you’ve never seen anyone’

Things go pretty well and they’re basically dating by the time he lets slip he loves her, but he’s so confident that she feels the same he doubles down instead of usually denying it
