Did you know I listened to Shrek the musical (and watched it) on repeat while I worked on my thesis film? For days. So I hold it dear to my heart, and Birdie definitely was a little inspired by 'I Know It's Today', waiting for her god to answer her, choose her, recognize her, along with the desire of being wanted and wanting to be saved from the life she leads as a outcast/'weird girl', day dreaming about being swept into the arms of someone who would love her. She dreamed of adventure but was forbidden, and had resigned herself to either trying to open an apothecary using her botony knowledge, or finding something else to spend her time since healing didn't work out... maybe commit to being entirely devoted and becoming a nun sorta... On her way home to tell her parents she failed the enterance test AGAIN, her travel is interupted and she's mugged, now with no funds she needs to get home and stumbles upon an adventuring party who need a healer, she can heal... a paper cut, and since she wears cleric robes they take her (their last healer died embarrassingly so now no one will join their party). The fighter has beef with her, and her inexperience is obvious. Eventually they're able to put their differences aside, and Birdie accidentally cries out for help from ANYONE ANYONE THAT WILL LISTEN while they plummet to their demise after a trap broke the floor, and the goddess of storms answers.... so now Birdie can be a true cleric and has to figure out who her new goddess is
