Hopefully those would-be owners source serious information about cat breeds in places designed for that kind of research...and not a comic strip...

Lexie in the Clouds

I have two and you’re not totally off! They are snuggly and very entitled. But they smell like feet or mushrooms and the leave little stains on things if you don’t give them a bath 🛁

I imagine anyone that might end up owning one?

There's 3 types of cat allergies actually. Dander, Hair, and Salivary Protein. The protein one is by far the most common (about 50-60% of cat allergies), followed by the dander one (about 30-40%), while the hair one is the least common at around 15%. And, of course, since the immune system is basically cobbled together out of the biological equivalents of silly string, toothpicks, and dryer lint it's utterly possible to have any mix of the three, from only one, to all three so it's nearly impossible to figure out which one(s) you actually suffer from without trial and error. So... For 1 of them (hair) sphynx cats are great. Long haired cats are actually better if you have a dander allergy. and as of yet it seems to be a mixed bag on if there is or isn't a cat BREED that's better for individuals allergic to the salivary protein (there do seem to be individual cats, but there's not enough research into the matter to figure out what is or isn't making them trigger allergies, and it's not even certain that it's genetic as even breeding 2 cats who don't trigger the protein allergy together can produce only kittens that do). So... Yeah.

Oh, c’mon, guys, who cares about the detailed accuracy of a sphinx cat breed info! Just enjoy the lovely and hilarious silliness of Mr Wrinkles and Lola! ‘I’m so glad they finally made an appearance. It’s been a long time! 😉👍🏻😀

Not for me. :P

Plus they're clumsy and tend to digestive troubles. The poor things are genetic messes.

And that would be "As cuddly as a cactus and as charming as an eel, Mr Grinch"? 8-)

Way to dish it right back, haha. And I like the strategically placed speech bubbles to avoid drawing the owner's face.

And Sphynx’s need baths every week or so. Also, sweaters in cool weather and sunscreen in sunny weather. NOT easier than a furred cat.

see I thought it was the cat dander that we are allergic too which sphinx cats still have since they do have hair just very fine, transparent hair. at least that was what i saw when i did research. i even heard sphinx cats can be a bit worse for people with allergies and the myth doesn't help lol.

just like that, not to criticize, the sphynxes are hypoallergenic only for those which are allergic to the hair which is rare because in reality people are allegic to a protein found in the saliva of cats (thus this being on the hair since cats this washes) and a sphynx this washes anyway so those who are allergic to saliva will make an allegic reaction and as it is the most widespread of allergy concerning felines the possibility that we do not react to the sphynx is still low. Although some sphynx breeding has managed to have lines that have less of this protein in their saliva and helps a lot for people with allergies.

They also smell like dirty feet when sweaty 😂

Wait, people don’t let their dogs on couches? I don’t understand. 😜

Wisdom of the Sphynx

I met a Sphynx cat once. The owner warned me not to be alarmed, but I found him just as cute and charming as a typical cat.

And also finally we get to so lola and mr wrinkles in pet foolery comics again

I agree with wrinkles

Not quite sure about the hypoallergenic part, as most (not all, cats have several allergenes) cases of cat allergies depend on a protein that is contained in the saliva, which is then dispersed in the hair via skin shedding. Still, fun strip, I like it :)
