We haven't pitched the comic to any publishing houses yet, but I just thought I'd share this with you guys. I'll probably share more sneak peaks as the project progresses...

2021-06-09 20:49:09 +0000 UTCAnother vote for kickstarter and self-publishing! I wouldn't do print-in-demand, they'll take too much off the top and they won't be as good as an offset print run which you can likely do gangbusters on given your following. Good luck, whatever path you take!

2021-05-14 05:55:55 +0000 UTCYep. I have seen successful Kickstarters sink everything from comics (I'm looking at you Lady Sabre and Wart) to lock picks to ceramic tools. There are fulfillment companies to take the burden off the artists, but they can cut into already-thin margins.

2021-05-13 17:44:41 +0000 UTCIn response to the calls for crowdfunding: Not that I am disparaging crowdfunding in any way (90% of my favorite comics are kickstarted), but dealing with the printers and fulfillment yourself are a major undertaking, especially for high volume projects like this is guaranteed to be. I've seen many a webcomic artist have mental breakdowns because they couldn't fulfill the pledges of their overly successful campaigns. If you want to go down the crowdfunding road, I'd suggest a pledge manager like BackerKit or Make That Thing.

2021-05-13 10:37:53 +0000 UTCThis is exciting! I've worked a bit in the publishing industry, so my tip would be to get an agent first! Although they take a commission, from the profits of the book, they ultimately know the details industry much better and know how to negotiate for your rights and for your profit muuuuch better than most authors are able to i.e. to only sell the English rights and not world rights, so you can get better foreign book deals too! Although, to be fair, I was more in the literary sphere and not graphic novels, so do take this advice with a grain of salt. But I wish you all the best!! :)
