Oof. I had the same problem when I was younger. 2 years and I finally had it removed from my right big toe. Was supposed to just harden but the mail grew back all messed up lol.

I've been there too, I ended up getting all my toenails taken off that year, since many of the other ones were getting close to being ingrown as well.

Both my big toe toenails are ingrown as well. And you know I am about to YouTube the procedure.

If my dollar a month helps your quality of life, by all means. I broke my big toe ten days before leaving for Spain for a short study aboard. The following couple of years, I kept getting ingrown toenails because I damaged the nailbed. After having four of them removed, I got the permanent procedure done. It was painful but one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Had to have this done on one of my big toes too.

Been there multiple times, though mostly just the one big toe over and over. Eventually they made a point to kill off part of the "root" of the toe nail to avoid having to do it more. Still took a few tries to fully take.

Ah, I've had the same surgery! Both big toes, on both sides of the nail. Be prepared for it to hurt for quite some time. And the saline baths sting like mad. But it's so worth it, I'm a year on now, and it's made a huge difference. Good luck in your healing!

Get well soon! I went with my mum when she had to have this, doctor asked if wanted to watch...no thanks sir! Instead I get to hear my mum who had happily watched and told me in graphic detail on the drive home. I’m still traumatised now.

I was a military medic way back when and one of the random things I got signed off on and did was ingrown toe nail removal. Not quite as thrilling as placing chest tubes but still helps people out. Had one patient ask to keep the nail I removed as proof for his NCO that he legit had an issue. Popped it in a test tube and gave it to the guy because why not?

You're not alone. I had mine since I was a kid all the way through to the military. Every step feels like a knife slicing inside my flesh and it hurt to even walk. I was actually limping on both legs some days. The pain was no longer worth it. Yeah, when they yanked 'em out (the numbing agent only could do so much) it still hurt. Days later, it also hurt to have them heal. But honestly? I'd do it all again. I'm big-toenail-free and pain free. Totally worth it! An added bonus is all I have to do is show my toes to my sister when she gets annoying. It grosses her out all to hell, but her son (my nephew) thinks it's cool!

Oh God, I know the feeling. I had ingrown toenails for about a year, partly cause I thought the antibiotics given to me made me dizzy while I was on a visit with my mom. It got to the point that my 2nd foster family had to shell out at least 1000 dollars for surgery and the surgeon pointed out how they were practically going to fall off if I waited any longer. That foster family was shitty to me in a number of ways, but I'm still grateful to them for saving my toes. I hope they know that much, and despite everything, I hope they're safe during the pandemic.

Ugh I can empathize. Had 5 surgeries for both toenails cause they can't help growing out like paper fans. Pedicures then became my more affordable prevention procedure 👣

I've had to have ingrowns cut out multiple times. Once, I had to have the entire big toenail removed. That's how I learned I was immune to codeine. Didn't do a damn thing and it hurts a lot for a couple of days.

I've had the same issue for about 6 years now. It's gotten to the point that I deal with bad pain about once a month before doing a little self-surgery. Then it becomes a tolerable pain level for the rest of the time.

I laughed a little harder at this than is probably socially acceptable. I had to have one removed once years ago - and that convinced me to do everything in my power to not ever get another one!!! I had one cut back and the nail bed partly killed so it can't ever grow back due to chronic ingrown nails on the side of one big toe. It looks a little odd, but I do Not miss that pain, gratz!

I went through the same thing, both infected, both removed at once. Remember lots of polysporin (or which ever antibiotic cream you have) and don't let the wrapping stick to the raw nail bed! And lots of elevation! Feel better!
