Lasers can actually be used to teach dogs long distance targeting e.g. to attack a certain person in a crowd or to go to a wanted far-off point where the handler can't go.

I feel like this has a deeper meaning , brutus is accustomed to attacking the target thats pin pointed and wanted to protect pixie from the “ target “

There is actually an interesting principle behind the difficulty of target acquisition with an LAD (laser aiming device). Essentially if the laser is the only thing you ever aim with there are no issues, If sights are the only thing you aim with your in the clear, but if you try to use both you have to spend way more than double the training time getting used to switching between systems efficiently. sounds like you're pretty handy with a gun then. Visible lasers are virtually non-existent in war. It is highly unlikely Brutus (or anyone) would have been exposed to one and therefore most likely would not have painful associations with one now. Snipers using lasers to aim only exist in the confines of Hollywood blockbusters.

The "sniper's mark" is movie magic. Visible lasers don't hold any utility for a sniper in reality.

omg this is a cute comic <3 but just FYI for those that don't know, laser pointers are really bad for dogs (and I think cats). it can cause OCD because they chase after something they can never catch. it can cause light and shadow chasing -- worse case scenario it can end up with a dog that tries to chase car lights

The way I understood it is that Pixie wanted it but since she couldn’t reach it Brutus tried to grab the dot for her 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bore sighting your weapon with a laser is common before zeroing in the optic in the military but snipers dont use visible red lasers for taking shots, that's just in movies.

Nope, they can search, sniff for specific items and for patrolling.

In my experience it depends on the dog, I have one who is very interested in the laser and one who has no idea it’s even there

Now I am wondering if dogs play with laser pointers too or is it just a cat thing
