Lore Dump

1/30/2022

The Growing Pandemic takes place on Earth more than 200,000 years into the far-flung future.

The planet's land and waters have drastically changed from the ancient conflicts of humanity, tectonic movement, volcanic activity, and a global ice age.

In this future, Bi-pedal animals, reminiscent of the those found across Earth's long history, have replaced humankind as the dominant population.

Do humans still exist in the Growing Pandemic Timeline?

Yes and No. They are exceedingly rare and prone to sudden death. An ancient human-made virus pretty much nullified (Think along the lines of the Affliction) all humans.  Any that still exist are colonists at the fringes of space attempting to find a new world, and they are working under the assumption Earth is long dead. Those that do remain on Earth are more Simian in appearance, with reason.

Q: As a Human Character, does this innately exclude me from the Growing Pandemic?
A: No, this is only for my canon universe. In a multiverse of possibilities, humans can still exist.
Q: Does the Growing Pandemic still infect humans?
A: Humans are nothing special, they are not immune to the effects of the Growing Pandemic. So, short answer, yes.

Two Time Systems

You will sometimes see something about a numbered year followed by "Stellar Date", or "SD". What I'm actually talking about the is far-flung past, when humans moved to space, and began its full control the Sol System. This won't appear much in the main storyline, but in Body of a God, a story that centers around Damien (the Shifter) and his origin story, it will be used to talk about ancient history, the restoration of life on the planet, and other things.

The second time system is the New Era. People of this era don't use BCE/CE, they just use year 0 as the common starting point.

((There is no set date for when the Stellar Date starts, compared to now anyways. It is whenever humanity makes space it's permanent home, and leaves Earth. That could be 50 years from now, or 500 years from now.))

Comments

Wonder if the Infected care about time much at all or if it only comes up when considering it in relation to finding other Uninfected. :3
