Thank you, Singular! Yes, that desperate, painful need to be heard instead of "fixed" is the entire engine driving Kris's story right now. I always saw Benji as the ultimate embodiment of that dynamic. He loves Chris, there is no doubt about that. But he loves the memory of Chris. His version of help is a restoration project. He wants to sandblast away the trauma and the identity that grew from it to get back to the original framework he understands. When he dismisses Kris's feelings for Alan as "the gay stuff" or "Stockholm syndrome," he's trying to invalidate her reality to make it fit back into his own. The tragedy of Benji isn't malice, I don't think. It's in his inability to see beyond the person he thought he knew. He's still the "dumbest smartest guy" Kris knew, intellectually capable but emotionally blind to truths that challenge his (pretty narrow) worldview. Kris is choosing the home she found, not the one she left behind.

Emory Ahlberg

Emory is super devious, reminds me of other authors who had deep far ranging plots that made me think and love their stories. Ill refrain from naming author names but well Early Gen 1 Whateley Academy stories, Any Other Name, Blood of the Covenant, On My Best Behaviour, The Witches of Florma, and even Welcome to Dorley Hall are some of my favorite stories of recent memory. Not to mention all the Bikini Beach and other shorter stories that helped me cope when I still lived fucking close to Narnia. The closet was way too cold and dark, so Im glad I moved out, eventually. Thanks to every author in the generas that I have read over the years for the positive trans content on the web. You never know when your going to help keep a young trans person around long enough to become an old trans person. Just. Like. Me.

Aint that the truth Kris. People, even and especially if they are friends sometimes, just dont listen to us. They try to fix us when we dont need fixing because we figured out some truths of our own lives. These truths are often harsh, and profound. We remember our own lives up to that point, and just dont want to go back for any number of reasons. We are better for it. We dont need fixing. We need people to listen and understand and that is so fucking RARE in your world or mine. Stand your ground babe, you got this, and you got people in your corner.

Ah, the complications multiply. Kris is very much in love with Alan and likes being called 'Mom'. From the dialog and previous chapters, it's clear that Chris still has feelings from Kayla, but one has to wonder if the 'return' was from those feelings or from a sense of guilt. From the preview, and from the 'dark secrets' that Kris hints at, the conspiracy goes much deeper than Kris will admit - perhaps in the time in confinement, Kris 'serviced' some high-ranking pervs in government, enough to realize that this is far, far bigger than imagined, and bigger than Ben would be able to comprehend? Kris is frightened of revealing something - what is yet to be revealed, but waiting for Emory to reveal all the pieces is blissful torture! I'm more convinced that Cindy with the gun is not about to betray Kris, but is assisting Kris. Why? Maybe a confrontation with Ben - or some other cop - about what Kris isn't saying? Maybe to satisfy the condition of release - trapping someone else? And the cell images - flashbacks, or perhaps a Ben POV, where HE'S the new victim? But - if so, is he a 'real' victim, or a voluntary 'plant' to try to unscramble Bella's little sadistic conspiracy? Or maybe, he gets enough from Kris, pieces together more from other sources, and Cunt starts seeing him as a real threat? Or he's too close to discovering her 'insider' position? Cindy gets the choice - go back, or get Ben? Or Cindy acts in the 'friendly' role - and gets Ben while Ben is talking to Kris - because again a threat from the Cunt? And we need to wonder - why was Kris arrested, and how did they find out that Kris was really Chris? That's a huge piece of background that might - might - play a role in how this will all get resolved! There are SO many devious plot twists that we have yet to see! And I'm impatient - I want the complete story yesterday! But I'll try to force myself to wait, even though waiting gives my actively-warped imagination time to think of new ways Emory could make the plot look like a plate of spaghetti!
