This episode is dialogue / drama heavy, and I had a lot of fun writing both Josh and Sandy. They're both in the middle of an incredible, difficult circumstance while also trying to navigate their own feelings. Tensions are high, and all sorts of secrets are starting to unravel...
And Nikki thinks she has it hard! 😉

Sandy is caught up in capital-D Drama. 😉 The poor girl is really trying her best to be honest with Josh, but it's hard for her to open up. She's lived with a lot of secrets and hasn't had an easy life. For instance, we know she's an orphan, and she had to live with a shitty uncle when she was young. She's very protective of who she trusts and, wow, it's difficult to break those habits. But maybe if she can get Mrs. Ferris to tell her the truth then she can finally move on with her life - and with Josh! 💖

Yes, that was definitely the vibe I was going for. 🥺 Sophia's death was such a tragedy that she's still very present in the minds of the characters. And the fact that Sophia's mom is being so... elusive about her death, as well as everything else, just serves to deepen the mystery... But Sandy is about to get some answers.

And especially since everyone in the situation is so concerned for one another. Josh is looking out for Sandy, and Sandy is trying to protect him (both from the secrets she holds and from whatever Mrs. Ferris and Mr. Xu might be up to). And I always love including bits of the other stories, too. 💜The idea of a 'Xuniverse' is fun to me. Hopefully I can continue to crescendo that drama all the way to the climax!

Josh definitely has a connection with her that just isn't easily broken. 💗 He seems to really care for her regardless of the situation. But he's also seemingly just been brought into her secret world and is just trying to figure out what to do with all this new information!

Mrs. Ferris will need to come clean - although there's no guarantee that she knows everything. As for Sandy and Josh, she's just soooo torn. She cares so much for him but is scared of hurting him if he finds out the whole truth (and she hasn't even talked about Jessica yet). It was hard for her to say as much as she did - and from what he saw it's no wonder he was so shocked! 💔

She accepted her trans daughter and even contrived of a way (petticoat punishment) to help the transition. That said, Mrs. Ferris still has her own secrets and they may be even darker than anything she's done in public. It's up to Sandy to find out the truth…

He was so understanding, despite finding out that Sandy "isn't real," which is a lot to take in. But, yeah, Sandy can't move on until she gets the whole truth from Mrs. Ferris and deals with everything that might come from that!

2023-09-25 21:01:46 +0000 UTCLet's recap: Mr. Ferris was a Platinum? member of Second Dawn and upon learning that his son was transgender, he locked him up in life, resulting in his ¿suicide? Because of this Mrs. Ferris, who knew nothing? of her husband's membership in the Second Dawn organization, contacted Mr. Xu and made a deal with him to take her husband and turn him into a Mr. Davis's TOY? Wow! And now, upon Sandy/Scott learning that Mr. and Mrs. Ferris have dealings with Second Sunrise, due to Josh's inquiries, Mrs. Ferris wants to renegotiate the deal with Mr. Xu.... Double Wow!!! Deals that at the moment we don't know what they consist of, neither the first one, nor the renegotiation of this one. And in the meantime, Sandy is still doubting who he/she really is and Josh is in quite a pickle for finding out some very sensitive information..... I don't know how you do it Emory, but your stories are going 'in crescendo' and getting more and more interesting, by the way I love the crossovers between the stories!

She looks so pretty and delicate. I can’t imagine, no matter what thoughts Josh may hold around the wrongness of what happened between them, him being able to resist his physical attraction to Sandy and her current state of feminine vulnerability.

And the heartbreaking exchanges between Sandy and Josh - when the original conversations took place it could be that she was thinking differently and is saying what she’s saying now as a means of protecting Josh or at the very least holding him at arm’s length while she sorts her feelings out. Some terrific art, Emory, and some absolute gut punches in the narrative too. Nobody else manages to combine it all as well as you do. xx
