Are there others so treated? Do some of the former men comfort each other? Perhaps as a band, they manage to escape? Then of course, the doubt by upper ranks, perhaps super-secret classification because this would be (or was) so damaging to morale. Then trying to setting into 'normal' lives - if they're not secluded for life in a top secret facility and studied for the rest of their lives. Oh, the possibilities!
