Genjutsu on its own is an entire branch and style of jutsu. If I take you back to the basics real quick. Try to remember the 3 eye types or powers of the sharingan told in the beginning of OG. 1. The piercing eye : allows you to see through and perceive others attacks and techniques physical or mental. 2. Copy wheel eye : allows the user to copy all physical techniques and ninjutsu they read with the eye except for other clans special techniques or bloodline traits aka kekkei genkai. Examples would be shikamarus shadow techniques or the hyuga clans gentle fist and byakugan. 3. The Hypnotic eye: the sharingan allows its users to use genjutsu naturally. The eye comes with natural genjutsu powers. The stronger your eye gets and the more it evolves the stronger your genjutsu becomes. You might even have access to different ones.
