Idk if you guys saw it but there’s a manga canon scene in OG Naruto btwn Tsunade and Shikamaru where he insists on a medic ninja on each team and she agrees, but adds that medic ninja are rarer bc they require a different set of skills than fighting shinobi (finer chakra control, high intelligence, etc). This is to set up Sakura’s importance in Shippuden
