Sasuke until this fight didn't actually care that much about naruto. Naruto going as far as he did in this fight, Sasuke gained more respect and gotten more attached to him (strengthening their bond). This is why he lets him live besides not wanting to copy Itachi. While Sasuke has a dumb way going about power, Naruto wouldn't leave him alone.

He didn't do "all that"...he planned to leave peacefully by himself and the village was the one sending all these people after. He could have DEFINITELY killed Naruto MULTIPLE times more than they showed him trying to, but in all situations it was Naruto who wouldn't stop. He chose at the end to let Naruto live...so, really, he didn't do much, except secure his way back to Orochimaru

He was fully intent on killing Naruto before the fight. In the end he just couldn't sever the bond. He still wants that power but he wants it through his own means to spite Itachi
