Well as you said, shin (supreme kai) didnt know about zeno till after meeting them at the tournament of destroyers, now he knows where to go. You can say its an ass pull, but there are inconsistencies in the lore. In DBZ, there were 5 supreme kais (west south north east and daikaioshin) and since daikaio was the "leader" only he would have knowledge of beerus/xeno/etc. and elder kai would have known too since he probably was the lead kai at one point. Also, i believe beerus is linked to elder kai and not shin... but i haven't been watching daima where I'm sure the lore is being fleshed out way more than it has been

How does Supreme Kai have the ability to teleport to Grand Zeno’s palace when he didn’t even know who Grand Zeno was prior to Beerus and Champa’s tournament? Also in an earlier episode Trunk’s sword was broken before he time traveled back to the past but then it was fixed again when he started to fight Goku.
