August Update and Plans
Added 2020-08-02 05:50:24 +0000 UTCOkay, as of Thursday last week, I am unemployed.
Now, the good news overall is that in 30 days I can reapply and get my job back. And it's like a 100% chance of getting it given the way my supervisors spoke.
Also, thanks to how money fell into place, I got all my bills basically paid save This months rent (not due till end of month). So, I can and will be taking this time to do my own thing...
This means more streams, more sketches, more everything.
Now, to be honest, I'm kinda crap at updating things here. While I plan to fix that, I think the first thing I'm aiming to do is get a Discord going. It's just easier to clip and post sketches and what not there.
The very 'blog' vibe of this set up feels both neat and also really clunky to work with. It feels great for those big/bulk/important updates and not just day to day interactions.
The only think keeping me from setting it up right this second is a total unfamiliarity with it. I'm going to be spending tonight and tomorrow, in between a few other things, figuring things out and clicking buttons and what not on my current junk discord. I will be likely either deleting it or letting it sink into nothingness or whatever and making a brand new discord just for my patreon supporters with what I learn. So look forward to that.
Also going to be updating all my social media (save my fb. I don't use that for anything save communications with my lgs) with new headers and what not. I'm thinking about also making a proper 'support me please' video at the top of this thing. Been meaning to do it a while, but due to my scattered creative focus over several different projects that are all effectively in preproduction, I've been hesitant to make one...
BUT, I'm currently cutting things down to about 3 main projects, with one having the bulk of my focus. Will have more on that either Tuesday or Thursday.
Since I have basically all the time in the world for the next month, I'm going to commit to a proper stream schedule. My biggest problem has been exactly that: Committing. Like, I worry about a lot of little things when I really should be just going for it already and keeping a solid time frame for things.
At the moment I'm waffling, but I WILL have that schedule finalized tomorrow and posted to my various social media and holding to it. The bulk of those streams will be my sketches/art and rambles, but I am toying with like three times a week chilling with some games. I've got way too many now and need to play at least some of them, and I know some folks are into the hangout and chitty chat thing, so why not give it a go.
My ultimate goal this month isn't so much to 'make it big' as much as to maybe 'make it half way'. Like if I can start pulling in enough of an audience/patreons/what have you over this next month to even cover half my monthly expenses, I can just grab a part time job that won't interrupt my schedule and creative vibes too much and keep on trucking. If I can even make some sort of dent, that would be awesome.
During the three month 'Shelter In Place', I didn't have any clear sense of things, was in a depressive space, dealing with anxieties, and was stuck on 'need to rearrange work space' that kept me from focusing. This time, I have a set time, I have at least a baseline knowledge on what my resources are, I have my room (mostly) rearranged, and it's just down to keeping on going.
I think I'll do a seperate post for my work space once I get my laundry finished (which is currently the main thing in the way of finishing as opposed to needing to move all my furniture around... if any of you follow my twitter, you might know a bit of what happened there XD)
Anyhoo, I'm getting kinda rambly, so I'll wrap this up:
Week 1: more streams, updating all social media info and arts, start up discord
Week 2-3: Pushing forward and attempting to post first major project (more to come on that)
Week 4: ??? Depends on where I am at financially...
More focused info tomorrow night.
