Update!!! Project Verdant Flame

Soooo, for those that don't know: Magic: the Gathering's 'War of the Spark: Forsaken' story is shit.

Weeeell, to be fair, I only know it's shit in one aspect, but it's a super important aspect to me. The short version is that after getting our confirmation of Gruulfriend's canon last book, they didn't just walk it back, they walked it back with a side of bi-phobia. So fuck all that.

Now that said, I first want to say 'sorry'. I didn't post this stuff here first and I really should have. In my defense, yesterday was a really shitty and frustrating day.

Anyhoo. so here is the dealio: Starting over the next month, I'm working on some prep work. I had been meaning to for a while now and even have been poking at things, uncertain of which project I should focus on. You know I have so many. But to be honest, several of them have the same origin frame work: Gruulfriends.

Of course, with all my other projects, I seek to boil things down as far as I can to get at the nuggets I actually love about the magic story and the characters and make my own stories by adding a lot of other things to the mix. One story is a cyberpunk thing, another plops the mains in a winter terror land. So on and so forth...

But for this project, I'm going to be instead taking a page from good ole E.L. James. I'm going to just make a story that isn't that far removed from Magic Lore. I'm going to make it distinct enough to be my own, but still you can see where I got the ideas from. I mean, if Wizards isn't going to give us Bi-Chandra and her girlfriend Nissa, then I am. They aren't offering it, so really I'm not taking away from their audience, I'm merely capitalizing on what they are not. Simple as that.

I will post here first from now on with any new additions I make that aren't on a discord discussion (of which I have been having mostly in Ish's patron discord as well as the 'Magic! at the Gathering' discord). For now though, to catch you up if you haven't seen the posts yet, here are the first two major things I've done so far:

This is the world building start 

This is a mock scene, using the mtg names for now .

Current working title is Verdant Flame, and it's going to be my primary focus going into the new year. I'm tired of this fucking being led along by Wizards. I know some folks are wonderful there, but the ones that have say are not and I'm at my breaking point.

I'm currently working on naming the characters. Any suggestions are welcome, and since you are my patrons, I will consider your suggestions with more wait then most outside of my close friends. X3
