For sure, 17 and 18 being cyborgs but the rest being fully mechanical and actual androids.
The anime sorta flubbed this and just kept it simple by calling them all androids.

also dont forget goku is alive in the main timeline whereas in the future he succumbs to the Virus. I think Goku being alive gave 17 & 18 an objective which is destroy goku at all costs but in the future hes dead so it kinda gave them freedom to just do whatever they wanted

Both these theories make sense to me.

Again to clarify 17 and 18 aren’t full robots, they are half human half machine.

There are a few theories on why the cyborgs are “stronger” in this timeline. One being that they actually aren’t and it’s just that they never went all out on Trunks before. Future 17 even told future Gohan in their last fight that he had only been using half of his power to fight him up until the point that he was killed in the manga if I recall correctly.
Trunks never would have heard this as he wasn’t there when Gohan was killed.
As for why they act differently, it could be that Gero didn’t get to finish reprogramming them in the current timeline. They were after all released under different circumstances. But that’s just a theory.

Idk man when you think about it, the android had the chance to kill the z fighters but left them alive and didn't even bother to hurt killing, and didn't murder that's gang that chop off 18 hair. I feel like they would only fight you if they have to defend themselves. That's what I took from this episode and the before this one
