Important! My car broke down!...
Added 2024-04-11 22:27:31 +0000 UTCI just wanted to make an announcement on why I haven't been able to post much in a few days...
Yesterday after dropping my partner off at work and heading to the store in the busy city my car started making worse and worse thumping noises increasingly getting louder and louder. My front right tire of my Subaru car starts locking up, and I swerve a bit in traffic. I was able to put on my emergency lights, as my car wheel was increasingly clogged up.
I was able to pull off the main road and pull off into a side street, until my right front wheel wouldn't want to budge anymore! Apparently the nuts on my tire where missing, and my tire was running on the studs for two weeks and sheared 3 studs off completely!(Studs hold the nuts to the car tire in place) And My tire was bulging out. And the tire was hanging on by a thread at that point!
My partner dropped everything at work to be with me to make sure I was ok. We called a towing truck because my insurance gives a reimbursement of $100. We had my car towed out to my grandparents whom is a car mechanic and I was able to stay the night while my car was being fixed up.
My car is running smoothly now, and I'm absolutely ok! I only had to dig into my savings a little bit, but if not for my grandparents I would have spent a fortune. I just wanted people who knew me personally that my car is all good and fixed up now, and I will probably invest in getting a dashcam on my car and my boyfriends car as we both live in an overun city. And also probably get car nut locks on my car, at least 1 for each tire as well.
(Sorry for long update)The homeless people are getting crazy out there so please stay safe everyone! πππ

2024-04-12 08:58:09 +0000 UTCBut my grandpa had to pull out the 3 studs that where sheared off completely, and so we replaced those.(There was only two studs left that weren't completly sheared off but extremely damaged and that's why my tire was still hanging on by a thread)There where some chaffing scratches on it, but we didn't have to replace the hub as it was still thoroughly intact. However the wheel had a few scratches on the inside metal of it but it wasn't too much of an issue that I had to replace that either thankfully as we caught the issue in time. We didn't have to replace the nuckle either. I will absolutely invest in a dashcam for sure as there's a lot of sketchy people in the city, and also my fued with my neighbor.

2024-04-12 03:41:25 +0000 UTCThank you! I definitely appreciate the advice haha. Honestly I don't know much about cars lol. And yes I feel SUPER LUCKy because earlier yesterday before my car broke down I was on the freeway to the gym and back before dropping off my partner at work. Like my tire could have popped off there and thank God it didn't on the freeway, holy shit. But I thought the thudding noise from the front of my car was my bumper piece for two weeks, (as previouse 3rd party who sold me the car had GLUED on the bumper) so I ziptied it. And at first I thought the rattling was from my bumper coming loose, so legit after I had dropped of my boyfriend the store I was going to was a shop to check out my bumper(as I had thought that was the problem as there was no yellow indicator light on in my car). And I was 4minutes away from the shop to have it looked at when my car broke down.

2024-04-12 03:35:45 +0000 UTCyoure lucky the wheel didnt completely disconnect and hit someone. insurance doesnt like that! Did your grandparents replace the hub or the entire knuckle? if you can afford it i highly recommend replacing in pairs. i always do whenever something fails like a wheel bearing even if the other side is ok. on the locking lugs, they arent a bad idea for sure but if someone is truly trying to steal your wheels or cause you injury by "mechanical failure" they wont do much except make them angrier as most wheel locks can be bypassed with a regular socket, a hammer and time. for a dashcam i strongly recommend one that has a good forward facing camera as well as a night vision interior camera as well as rear facing addon. you definitely dont need the interior camera but it could come in handy if someone breaks into your car or to prove to your insurance that you werent distracted driving. all that being said BlackVue. i dont believe they offer a camera with interior and rear facing but they are very good quality cameras, but a bit pricy. if you have any questions please do ask!
